I would actually hire Coulter because he has balls and speaks his mind.

Lets be honest here saying something like wrote in that quote does NOTHING to hurt hurt the company or business. Its an ego/power trip and the person responsible is probably the real problem. Any real man would take those comments to heart and look at his self in the mirror. Then he has 2 choices.......accept that what was said is accurate and fix the problem.....or find that its wrong and challenge the SOB to a duel at high noon.

holy crap, what's wrong with me?

It must be the same feeling as waking up one morning when you are 35 and realizing you have been gay your whole life and didn't know it.

Well people, this place finally came back around to bite me in the butt.

Because of my comments and opinions expressed on this website, I have been terminated effective immediately.

Thanks for the ride, albeit a short one. Thanks for never holding punches, holding me accountable, ripping me when needed and making me better. This is part of my core audience here and I'm sad I won't get to share my passion with you anymore.

I'm out.

said comments include this paragraph...

"The point is, it's fine to be dissatisfied with the coverage of your local paper and we always love feedback. But you must understand that we are all handcuffed by money-hungry corporate f***ks who want to run newspapers as a business rather than an essential part to maintaining a free-flowing democracy. Or in the sports world, serving small communities in a rural state like Montana where sometimes the biggest news of the day is in the realm of athletics."

I'm goin to miss reading your Cat reports Colter. I get most of my info from the coaches, but I always enjoyed read what you had to say. From this Cats fan to you, fuck the chronicle. They suck dick by choice. I'll buy you a beer if I see you in Missoula.

As many of us have witnessed in the declining quality of the Missoulian (and Tribune), the 4th estate is a hot mess these days. Local newspapers were once all slanted mouth pieces for unions, corporations or political interests. Feels like we are descending back to those days.

Question: Is BW becoming more of a jaded, chain yanking provocateur or is Alpha becoming more of a sensitive, thoughtful sugarcoater?

It you go WAY back, it was actually better, in one way: Towns had newspapers that were avowedly Democrat, Republican, or (name a third party) ... or they made no attempt to hide their labor or management slant. You knew exactly where they were coming from, and subscribed because you agreed, or you wanted to keep track of what the opposition was up to. Now, most towns are down to one rag, which generally does its best to hide its biases ... because it can't afford to piss off any large block of readers. (Does not mean they don't slant the news, they just usually try to be more subtle about it.)

Wow...I wonder if it is even legal to fire someone for posting opinions on an anonymous forum. Anyone know? Did he post comments under his own name?

Edit: I see now that it appears he used his name. Still....can one be fired for stating opinions outside of work? What are the guidelines? Just curious....

Not sure on actually guidelines but when you remove the cloak of anonymity and post on message boards it can tend to be a double-edged sword that can both help build your credibility and come back to bite you. As I've just found out recently on both accounts.
I did not realize that identities are not private on sites like this. As a result, I have actually stopped donating to UM since people were apparently "checking me out" For a lot of reasons, all of them personal, I do not use my name when contributing to institutions or charities preferring "Anonymous"...I don't need a slap on the back but what some people did up there was a slap in the face. Other places are glad to safeguard donors' ids.

First off, why did he use that as his username? And while I do think this was actually him posting, how easy is it for anyone to create an account with whatever name they want? One would think that a company wouldn't want to be bothered with investigating whether a short blurb on a message board was in fact from a certain individual...and having to deal with the court if it was determined the person was just portrayed and wrongfully terminated.

I heard Scott Disick and the Kardashians are huge Griz fans, maybe we can get their celebrity opinions on this?

lol. Yeah...that damned concept of actually running a business as a money-making operation comes around to bite somebody in the ass again.

As long as the prevailing principle is, when exchanging of commodities (even selling one's labor as a commodity is accepted) of equivalent value:..entailing freedom, property, equality and Bentham. At least, that's what I've heard. Also, if a government is run like a business then it's a business off-side.

Anybody really believe that The Missoulian would ever hire a Colton Nuanez :?: ...I'm long familiar with Nuanez and a forthright "tell it like it is" style that would would never be tolerated at The Missoulian where Meseroll and Neighbors never risk rocking the boat.

Also, isn't the Missoulian owned by the Lee Corporation? I would think that someone who hated "Greedy corporate Fucks" would not work for a newspaper ran by a big one.

Im guessing hes done in the newspaper biz. Too bad, as he did a really good job.

is it just me, or has fritz neighbors coverage been lacking this year?

He was a tool. I’d hear him go on his political rants about freeloaders and subsidies and then he gets canned for not wanting his newspaper to be run like a business. Tough crap Colter there are plenty of young hungry sports journalists out there.
