UM Football Only BSC Team not Playing an FBS Opponent in 2025

The only time it makes sense for the Griz is if it is a big enough team to matter for exposure, like we got against Washington and came away with the win. There is no benefit to us in taking a game against, for instance, a New Mexico State. As others have mentioned, home games are good for the whole community.
To be fair it got the cats a good amount of attention and obviously helped us get the one seed

The attendances were higher, but saying "Much higher" might be a stretch. If you look at griz three games last year and one game this year, and Cat's one game last year and three games this year and look at the overall averages it comes out to 18,237 for Cats and 20,121 for griz.
Okay. But a better comparison is 2023 Griz to 2024 Cats. The first round Thanksgiving game is always very low and skews things. I think I made that compassion previously and UM’s attendance was over 20% higher. Thus, much higher.

Hey, I think most, not all, of us would support playing an FBS/IA team, provided they are willing to pay us $750,000. We have had a lot of fun over the years traveling to Pullman/Moscow, Eugene, Corvallis, Iowa City, Laramie and Seattle as have thousands of other GRIZ fans and since Bobby 2.0 started in 2018, we have played Oregon and Washington and, I might add, beat Washington for the first time in 2021 in 101 years--the last previous GRIZ victory over The Huskies was 1920 when we were in another pandemic, Spanish Flu, 1918-1920.

But it doesn't sound like Ken Haslem's phone is ringing off the hook with FBS offers right now. Hopefully, we will play another high-paying FBS game sometime between 2027 and 2029 !!!

There is a whole string of posts about you on the facebook FCS page about you mentioning attendance. It's hilarious.

I know that many stated that MSU had a weak schedule this year.

The Griz schedule next season only has two FCS teams that posted a winning record in 2024 and both those games will be played at WaGriz. The only other team with a winning record is DII.

I would think that expectations are a 12-0 regular season.

What are people’s thoughts on a failed opportunity for the program if they don’t go undefeated?

Is the threshold 9-3 or 10-2?

Since they were 8-4 this season I would think that would be considered a failed opportunity.

11-1 I would say is not a failed opportunity.

With that schedule, I would expect us to go 10-2 at the very worst, although it does depend a little bit on how Sac State and Weber shake out.

There are gonna be people pissed if we don't go undefeated and get the #1 seed, but if we don't land a top 8 seed and make a decent postseason push next year, it might start to get ugly, ESPECIALLY if the cats win it all this season.

Replacing 75% of the starters from a 9 win team really doesn't lead me to expect a 12-0 regular season. Probably not a 10 win season.

Some of us would like to see who’s on the team first. I assume you were never associated with a college team that was ever as good as these records. And of all of your teams were probably failed.

I would say with the portal teams can decline or improve quickly. Especially teams like Weber, Sac St and Eastern But no doubt it’s a favorable schedule.

4 loss season next year, 5th liss will be first game of the playoffs. The good fans will laud approval, kudos and self hamd jobs over the massive turn in the right direction. Sign Hauck to a 10 year deal now so no FBS team gobbles his mediocre ass up

The game i don't get in the schedule is central washington. I get having and winning a home game but limiting yourself to 11 chances for "counter" wins in a 12-game schedule feels like missing an opportunity. I'll give you that CW and Mercyhurst are no different as far as quality, CW may in fact be better, but mercyhurst is fcs. You could be 11-1 with 10 FCS wins and 0 ranked wins with that schedule. Top 4 seed with that resume?

Funny about that…3 years ago the schedule would have been deemed BRUTAL.

MSU, EWU, Weber, Sac, Idaho…that would have been a death march through the BSC. Not dodging a SINGLE typically good team.

D2 counts as a win, but not as D1 win. Your “counter” comment is incorrect.

You act like the CWU game was by design. It was not. It was the best of very few options. You should try your luck at putting together a schedule.
