The stadium has shrunk twice from the 33,500 capacity of the 70's...record crowd was 34,745 in 1997 probably against CSU. The Griz could have put those seats to better use than the Pokes.

Nice, usually the biggies coming to cowtown get large crowds.....

Our best shot at a FBS win as this is no Autzen or Neyland atmosphere and would appear our Griz have the athletes to compete!

I expect our men to play composed and focused, hopefully our coaches have their heads in it too.

Win or lose it is Go Griz!!

This game has already outsold any of their home games last season

Amazing, right? Yet, some Wyoming posters have this opinion:

So, with the dwindled total capacity of the War being 29181 (pathetic if you ask me), that still means they have sold roughly 9,000 tickets (outside season ticket holders & visitors) for this game. Against a FCS opponent. That is impressive, honestly. Of course, they knew they had to push it / market it hard, with classes not starting until the 2nd, labor day weekend, and an opponent most could give a shit about.

Even with all the marketing Wyoming has put on with the new coach and new brand philosophy, I Guarantee that if any other FCS team besides UM or NDSU were to play at Wyoming they wouldn't be able to sell out this game. A big reason why the game is selling out is because the Griz are bringing way more fans to Wyoming than any other FCS team would. Although Wyoming may view this game like we view Central Washington, I do think that there are Wyoming fans who are interested in this game due to the geographic locations of the two schools.

Also helps it is move in weekend for students in the dorms and many parents are making a weekend of it in Laramie. New coach has been around the state doing some marketing as well. Season Ticket sales are up nicely due to that marketing. Wyo Assistant AD said he expected montana to bring about 3K fans to the game

If I am not mistaken, this game will outdraw them hosting Nebraska. If so, that is quite impressive and says a lot about GRIZ NATION. I just tell my Cornhusker loving friends we our game there outdraws theirs. LOL

There was 32,000 at the Nebraska game, I doubt this game will surpass that.

I thought I saw a post somewhere that game did not sellout. I guess you know better than anyone on this board. :thumb: Good thing I did not say anything to them about it, yet.

I did a 3 second Google search and found the number.

Nope we added endzone seating for Nebraska and Texas to expand the stadium and oversold the student section for standing room only. Also increased ticket prices for Nebraska and Texas. Gave some ticket special deals to help sell out this game. Very cheap youth tickets and a country concert on Friday night before the game to entice parents and students to be in town.

They really are trying hard to market this game which is not a normal Wyoming practice for the first game of the year

Don't worry, mtgrizrule... in the last 4 seasons, only #9 Nebraska and #3 Boise drew sellouts for Wyoming. Most likely we'll be the 3rd-highest attended game at Wyoming in 4 seasons, so go ahead and tell your buddies that Montana was right behind #9 Nebraska and #3 Boise! :thumb:

nebraska fans are the absolute worst bunch of di****ads, they still drive around in the 1980's customized vans with the hard shell on the spare tire hanging off the back, the big picture window on the drivers side and the go big red flag flying off the roof ladder. go on, laugh, you've seen that guy tooling down the interstate.
as cowherd says, dont be that guy

Speaking of Cowherd, isn't he planning on being in Cheney Saturday to see his alma mater play Sam Houston Institute of Technology, known affectionately in shorthand as something else...? Since it's on his employer's network he'll no doubt be getting some serious face time.
