UI Vs UM

Such a maroon-colored glasses post.

Are you saying that teams would look forward to playing the Griz? The team who has won the last two tourneys? One of the more battle tested teams in the league being one of the only teams who has played all of the top teams? The team that beat a Pac 12 program and gave another all they could handle. These Griz aren’t as good as they usually are or have been in the past but they’re still dangerous, when they have their shit together.

What I am saying is that I doubt any of the top teams fear this Griz team with how they are currently composed. I am not saying that the Griz couldn't win if they play well. Your "100% guarantee" that other teams don't want to face them is laughable IMO.

Give the Vandy’s credit, they shot 50% from the field and Blakeney was terrific. Anderson was the only Griz to play in a conference tournament (Parker but not in the big sky), so hopefully the jitters are out of the way. Survive and advance!

I have to agree. EWU has to be licking their chops for a chance to pound them again. SUU turned out not to be a fluke, so not sure what they’re thinking. MSU also wouldn’t be pretty, IMHO. Sure, any game there’s a “chance”, but I think our road this year is done.

Fair enough. If I was legens I may not be too concerned. If I’m Rahe I’m very concerned. Hasn’t Travis beat weber and rahe like 9/10

I would like to say we played our worst game but a win is a win. Obviously we won at the Free throw line out scoring Vandals 20 to 8. We did not score a field goal in the last 8+ minutes. Something like 37% for field goals and 31% on 3’s. It’s pretty evident we need a big man inside both on defense and offense. Vasquez was high with 21 but I still cannot understand why when he gets inside he always passes out rather than take it to the basket. We were only out rebounded by 2 but the offensively boards were non existent.
Our chances against Weber look pretty bleak at this point. I’d be surprised if Graves didn’t get 20+ and Mac will keep his string alive by fouling out. Today he played 11 minutes and still managed to foul out. The refs missed a few calls but overall they called a good game. Our freshmen guard line played a reasonably good game and maybe now they’ll carry it over to the Weber game.
Keys to the next game I’ll say take the air out of the game, I hate that but Weber likes to run and they will. Dribble, dribble, dribble is so frustrating to watch and then put up a poor shot. I just contradicted my previous statement but if you’ll remember our win against Weber we came out with our hair on fire so at this point my game plan sucks. I hope Travis can make the adjustments but after today’s game I’m not sure. I’ll have to adjust my prediction of Weber +5 to Weber plus 15 if we play like we did today. It’s just not our year. Coaches will need to make some serious decisions this summer. I see at least 3 scholarship players not coming back. Don’t ask because I have no idea who that will be. Our guard line is set for the next 4 years but we need some inside help and maybe a change in offensive philosophy. But I never coached so what do I know?

I’ve watched MSU plenty. They wouldn’t concern me a bit. I honestly think we’d beat them 8-10 times.

Just found my answer on weber....Griz have won 7 of last 10.

Like I said, with how this team is composed, I don't think Rahe fears them.

What a dumb statement. I don’t think ANY coach is going to be pleased playing a team who they split with in the regular season. Especially one who handed them a 13 point loss, one of the largest of their season. Does Weber still win? Likely yes. Is Rahe a little nervous right now? No doubt.

Rahe respects them, he doesn't fear them. Personally, after watching the games today, I think he would rather play UM than NAU right now. Now for being dumb, keep up the great work.

This team drives us crazy as fans. But I can absolutely 100% guarantee that no team in the big sky wants to face this team in this tourney. When they play well they look like one of the best teams in the conference. Unfortunately playing well has has been a very rare thing for this team.

Such a maroon-colored glasses post.

Not really, when they quit thinking and just play they can have great stretches (the 25-7 run and the stretch in half2 that put them up 15 ) when they can play with anybody. Now if you mentioned they only get in this kind of groove for 10 or 15 minutes a game and then stumble around like it's their first time in a gym I'd agree with you. It's frustrating for fan, even one who wants to give them some slack given their youth.

To be totally honest, the way these things go, all coaches fear all programs. I think UM knows what it will get from WSU and WSU knows what it will get from UM. I think that this game will be a good one. They almost always are between us.

No matter the outcome, there is always next year. Of course there will be all spring, summer and fall to talk about it. :thumb:

Josh Vasquez was absolutely the MVP today. He's really coming into his own and is fun to watch. If he could just work on his moves to the basket, specifically finishing, he could really be something special.

However, we won't win another game in this tournament when we finish the last 8 minutes of the game without a FG. That's only just good enough to beat Idaho. The guys have to figure that shit out.

The key to happiness is managing your expectations.

My expectations for this team are realistic. It will be a big upset if we beat Weber. Even bigger if we beat EWU.

But upsets are the reason why we love tournaments. So I will enjoy the ride and hope for the best. And if we lose tonight, I will look forward to next season with great enthusiasm.
