UFC has announced the card for UFC 81, to be held 2 Feb, the night before the Super Bowl. There are four potential dark matches, a decent-looking novice match in the 185-lb class, a pretty good journeyman class, and a great-looking main event featuring Tim Sylvia.

Dark Matches

Keta "K-Taro" Nakamura (5'9" 170 13-2-2) vs. Rob "The Saint" Emerson (5'9" 155 8-6-1)

Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman (5'9" 205 13-7-1) vs. Terry Martin (5'9" 185 18-2)

Tomasz "Travolta" Drwal (6'1" 205 14-1) vs. David Heath (5'11" 205 9-1)

Gleison Tiban (5'10" 155 26-3) vs. Tyson Griffin (5'6" 155 10-1)

Guaranteed Undercard

Ricardo "Big Dog" Almeida (6'0" 185 3-2) vs. Alan "The Talent" Belcher (6'2" 185 11-3)

Jeremy "Gumby" Horn (6'1" 185 87-14-6) vs. Nate "The Great" Marquardt (6'0" 185 28-6)*

Semi-Main Event

Frank Mir (6'1" 240 9-3) vs. Brock "The Next Big Thing" Lesnar (6'3" 265 1-0)**

Main Event

Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (6'8" 255 26-3) vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (6'1" 240 29-4-1)

* Is this Marquardt dude any relation to Bridget Marquardt?

** I wonder if Lesnar is going to be so stupid as to try to pull his bogus F-5 on Mir? Dude fails at pro wrestling, and fails even worse at football. What makes him think he can succeed at MMA? :lame:

Well, right on! It may noy not be the main event, but that Horn-Marquardt fight will be among the more interesting for me... Horn is my pick in this one... just two great fighters. Mir-Lesnar... Mir will show this guy that there's more to mma than sheer power. And Mir has a bit of that too. Sylvia-Nogueira... I have no opinion on how this one will go... just buckle up and hang on tight!

IMO, this one has "Snooze Fest" written all over it.

The only interesting fight I see is Lesnar/Mir. I used to be a huge fan of Mir, but after he broke his leg, it seems he just doesn't have "it" anymore. Watching any of his fights after his accident shows that what once made him a great fighter, just ain't there anymore. Brandon Vera is a bit better than average for a MMA fighter, but Vera whipped Mir in the 1st round in 2006.

Don't sell Lesnar short, he's got the wrestling credentials to do really well as a heavyweight. He's a monster/freak, and I think it'll be a while before someone beats him...again, my .02 only.

I'm looking forward to UFC 82, on March 1st, and only one fight...Anderson Silva/Dan Henderson.

Personal opinion only here, but I think Hendo will go through "The Spider" like crap through a goose!
