UC Davis @ #7 Montana Game Thread

The sack -- only the second of the game for the Griz, I believe -- which set up 4th and long there near the end was HUGE for the defense.

Not exactly a dominating performance, but ... "a win is a win." :)

The wailing and gnashing won't be from this fan this week. I am happy. JJ and Canada looked like their old selves. We found a go to WR with Jones. Offensive play calling was exceptional all game. I have faith in our DEFENSE still. UCD's offense is not their problem.

Special teams looked great too. So many more positives than negatives from this game.
 
I believe this was a good game to build on for rest of the season,,,....,to start the game we were flat after the bye week imo, thus the slow start,.....,,after that we played very well, players and coaches......

I'm happy. First half definitely had some rust but second was an ass kicking. Even the Davis TDs in the second were not That alarming. They had a good thing going with the TE and the RB is a load. Still they chewed up a lot of time in those drives which didn't hurt us any. Overally the offense did more that I expected and the D didn't do as well as expected but a dominant performance overall. Who'd a think the D would get tired cause we score too quick?
 
If we bring second half passion and focus into the next five we will be fine......if we lapse into the first half version we struggle!

Gotta bring more heat. Struggle erring pressure and our blitzes did really well. Would have liked to see more blitzes. Great job in the second half. I can't wait to watch the replay and see if the big runs were good blocking or just great individual effort by the backs. Unfortunately I feel like its the latter. Nevertheless, a win is a win.

Run blocking was much improved. Canada's last TD was great blocking. His long TD run was more him than the OL. What I liked was the OL kept the DL from being to the RB's before or at the same time of the handoffs. The RB's had time to see things a lot more often than they have most of the season. The RBs made things happen from the LOS to 5 yards down field, instead of behind the LOS. I hope you will be satisfied with the OL play when you watch the game again.

Pass blocking was better because the OL did not have to sustain blocks as often for too many plays. The quick passes to the flats and within 10 yards of the LOS was the adjustment I have been looking for all season. Those plays gave JJ more time in the pocket for the longer passes, and allowed him to make plays happen with his feet.

In my opinion, the best OL play, execution, and play calling this season, and for a whole game. I really am very happy with what I saw on offense today. Huge improvements overall.
