After a quarter century spent in the great northwest, all I have to say is I hope we put up 70 on the dogs (or "dawgs"). Don James ran a crooked program and I heard Gill Dobie took it in the ass.

Yeah, and your wife was still a virgin when she met you and Charlie Manson was just misunderstood.  :roll:GrizLA said:Don James was a class act. He did not run a crooked program. I had to work with him for 2.5 years...
We may have been in their conference but even then we never beat them.Spanky said:Why are you stating its a loss before the game is played? There was a time when Montana was in the same conference with Washington.
I would like to see the fans get a more positive attitude regarding this game and if we are playing Washington just to collect a check, we should forfeit.
Wow, are you one embittered loser. I worked closely with Don James and his entire staff while at UW. You were probably still trying to figure out why the world passed you by.Ursa Major said:Yeah, and your wife was still a virgin when she met you and Charlie Manson was just misunderstood.  :roll:GrizLA said:Don James was a class act. I was probably still in diapers. Dude, please! It was a soft rumor in this town about recruiting violations for years. The investigations and violations were well publicized in the 90's. The NCAA didn't have the balls to touch a coach from a top program. Read the investigation. James was either a crook or a fool.GrizLA said:Wow, are you one embittered loser. During the 1992 season, it was revealed that several Huskies players had received improper benefits. Among them, starting quarterback Billy Joe Hobert had received a series of loans totaling $50,000 made by a friend's father-in-law.[4] While this was not an institutional violation (Hobert was deemed ineligible as a result, but the program was not punished), this was the first of a series of investigative reports by the Seattle Times and Los Angeles Times that eventually led to the Pacific-10 Conference and NCAA investigations. These led to charges that Washington exhibited "lack of institutional control" over its handling of recruiting funds for on-campus visits, in which player hosts allegedly kept money or gave it to recruits, and turned in false expense forms (amounts cited in the report were $80). It was also charged that a booster ran a summer jobs program that employed more than 50 Husky athletes since the 1970s that either paid for work that was not performed or were not given enough work to merit their salaries.[5] The Huskies received sanctions from both the NCAA and Pacific-10 Conference, though notably James and the coaching staff were not specifically cited as having broken any rules. James resigned from his head coaching position on August 22, 1993, in protest of what he considered unfair sanctions against his team.[6] James later clarified that he was protesting what he felt was a betrayal by then University President William Gerberding, who, against James' wishes, argued in favor of altering the penalties against the program from a two-year TV revenue ban and one-year bowl ban, to a one-year TV revenue ban and two-year bowl ban.[7]

It's good to see you positive about something. Sorry to shit on it. Maybe channel some of that toward Griz athletics??
If it's any consolation, Don James was not alone in these violations.
Good one!! Now I'm starting to wonder about your possible negative influence on Coach James. Weren't you in the mafia . . . I mean the gaming industry? I suppose compared to the character of most people in that racket, Coach James should be canonized.GrizLA said:You might have been in diapers then, but you are still rolling in crap.Ursa Major said:I was probably still in diapers. The same defense that actually got better after replacing 4 players drafted in the first 44 picks last year? A Sark UW team could screw the pooch but not a Chris Petersen UW team.dayday said:I could see us scoring some points on a defense that is replacing some NFL guys l. But yeah it would a huge upset, however, FCS teams have done it before so never say never. I would just like us healthy coming out of that game

You're right, we did beat them in 1920 in our first meeting. Sadly we've lost seventeen times in a row since, so there is a chance. I will be there with my griz gear on but I wont be holding my breath for a griz win.
