Tyler Harvey Drafted into NBA

With Harvey getting drafted 51st by the Orlando Magic I'm surprised nobody has posted about this yet. Looking for your opinions on if he makes the team and/or how successful he will be over the years in the association. Personally, I never know anymore these days if guys will make it anymore. I can see him being a complete bust or a guy who turns into a solid contributor early in his career.

As someone who has played against him over the years I know he has the talent and skills to take and make very difficult shots..But I also know how weak and unreliable on defense he is. Which believe it or not defense is important to NBA coaches.

Thoughts?

He seems a little fragile to me. I'm not sure he can hold up to the grueling NBA schedule. But then, that was the thinking of many regarding Steph Curry.

I think he has a legitimate shot. He has offensive abilities you can't teach...if he puts the work in on D it will be easier for him to develop that than it would be for a player to learn the type of offensive skills he already has. He's no Curry but he has some Curry-type offensive qualities.

Harvey is one of those players that I never know what to expect from him. In the 2013/14 season was I thought we was highly overrated. I took that opinion into the 14/15 season as well. No doubt he has the offensive game to take over and carry a team. Unfortunately, at times his desire to score and takeover a game took away from his teammates as well. I felt in 13/14 he forced way too many shots, and consistently made questionable at best offensive decisions.

In 14/15 he did become a better team player and cut down on questionable shots and decision making. He showed me he was capable of getting his teammates involved. I am not sure if he has the physical make up to ever become a solid defender. Offensively, if he can find consistency for his coaches to know what they can expect and prove to be reliable, I can see him being a nice offensive weapon off the bench.

Overall, I feel he will prove to be too inconsistent, and not enough physical characteristics and intangibles to make a name for himself in the NBA. I feel his taste of the NBA will be short lived, and continue to hang on as a borderline prospect for awhile. Too bad we cannot combine Cherry and Harvey, together they make for an all star caliber player. With that said, I hope Harvey and Cherry each prove their doubters wrong and can have significant NBA careers. I will continually be hoping Cherry and/or Harvey can join up with Lillard on the Blazers.

My best wishes and good luck to Tyler Harvey
