Two Griz players arrested

this will be stitt's defining moment regarding how the griz players handle themselves off the field, because it is his first and just like first impressions you only have an opportunity to do it once.....I look for a first game suspension, if he is the coach I think he is...

As much as I hate to say it, I will be shocked if he doesn't suspend these two for the opening game. I believe he has to send a message, not just to the other players, but to the administration, athletic director and the fans in general. He's between a rock and a hard place.

Guys, this is all very premature. It is very hard to say what is an appropriate punishment. Nobody (on eGriz) knows what either of these two may have done.

Gamboa's offense may be quite serious, or not at all. The charge could cover a wide range of actions. So we will just need to see if it warrants a serious penalty by Stitt, or just a swift kick to the rear.

With Kose, the failure to appear and $180 fine makes it sounds like a very minor matter. Unfortunately one which he allowed to balloon into an embarrassing arrest. Again, his actions (or failure to act) may warrant a team punishment, or just a talk "To get your sh*t together dude!"

I'm confident coach Stitt will do what he feels is best in light of what either of these guys did. He will do something. He needs to make sure everyone else on the team "gets it". Though talk of a suspension from any game is just one of several possibilities, and one which may be far too severe considering the circumstances. Soon enough we will know. Though for now let us just find out what actually happened before breaking out our beloved pitch forks, and yes I do love those pitch forks!

I have no idea what either did. Both need to be handled on an individual basis. They are individuals who happen to be members of the football team. This post says a lot. Prejudice is ugly in any form. Like 1982 said let's find out what the whole facts are first and fit the punishment appropriately.

Hope they are released. Don't want them to stain the Grizzly name.

Kose's bail was like 180 bucks. Probably a speeding ticket. You think he should be released from the team? Wow...you do realize something like this will likely happen each and every year and has for decades. Talk about living in the moment...the season cannot start soon enough. On the other hand, it gives egriz and bobcatnation something to talk about. My guess is they'll serve a one-game suspension.

You don't go to jail for speeding tickets. They f*@&#d up and I don't support a team of criminals.
Feel free to find another team to support.

I really don't know how this is even news? Pretty weak cheese if you ask me. The fact that Chris Lynn was able to party for two days straight in Washington, seems like more of a headline in the newspaper. Ha......

I'm by no means condoning the actions of these two. As I said earlier, they let themselves down and especially let their teammates down as I truly believe they'll be suspended for the NDSU game. However, How Stitt handles this issue is in NO WAY the defining moment of his career. For one thing, the guy has already been a coach for half of his life. I don't care it it's UM, MSU or MSU-Northern, coaches deal with this crap in college football ALL THE TIME. And while some do screw it up, most handle it right, and it's in no way the "defining moment" of their career.

Hate to wade too deep into this one, but didn't um athletics implement a pretty specific code of conduct that takes punishment out of coaches hands?

I think it took effect shortly after the players were tased by mpd

The dominoes are already falling. By now, Engstrom has told Haslam what will happen come Monday, and Haslam has told Stitt. The two players will get the word tomorrow or Tuesday. There are no mitigating facts, they are Griz, and therefore guilty. Recent history supports this conclusion. Its Engstrom's legacy.

But here's the deal. The correct coaching response is to suspend them for the next game. Yes, that happens to be NDSU. Not a half game suspension and not a deferred suspension for the D2 game.

Again, it's minor shit.

UM is an actual Div 1 FCS team, playing a full Div 1 FCS schedule.

Unlike High School U - Bozeman.

What was it Stitt said when a reporter asked if he was hard on the kids or strict? Something along the lines of "I tell them if they do everything right we will get along just fine" <<< Not his exact words but something along that line best I can remember.

Sounds to me like a ready-made excuse for losing to NDSU...."well yeah, they ran down our throats, but we were without two of our starting three linebackers..."....AND getting the team/coaching staff fired the fuck up.

I agree with Statler. Engstrom will decide. As a result of negative press in the past, it may not be good news for these two.

Isn't obvious the whole thing was engineered by wily ol' Coach Stitt? Think about it; expectations for NDSU go way down, the players understand he is serious about off field behavior, the scout team is radically improved for the first week, substitute players get much needed playing time, the administration get's the proverbial pound of flesh, starting linebackers get their season reduced by one week resulting in much less 'wear and tear'. Genius.

Either that or some of the players might not be quite as smart as we would have hoped.

Bigamy again? Told you to stay out of Vegas.

My guess is Alpha was with the Mexican Squirter again. And that's not the Nacho Cheese dispenser at the Town Pump variety....

Both of you are soooo close but this is just a difference of opinion between a guy that runs his mouth and a cu*t officer that will have his bad day sometime in the future......... It was something I could have avoided but chose to make it as hard as possible for everyone involved.

Geez, I remember the Mexi-Squirt. That was the night I commandeered the private jet. All time.
