So you "tell it like it is" by putting out a tweet, and not talking to the player or players involved or team? And you diss the player, an important player who won games for the team this year and is expected to be the guy next year? And you piss off this well-liked guy's friends and the team by going off on him behind his back? If you start losing the team by what you say and do, and even if you start bringing in too many transfers, at some point, you aren't going to be improving the team. Also, if you alienate too many former players and big supporters, you aren't helping yourself, or helping the team in the long run. There are right ways and wrong ways to do the same, or essentially the same, thing. This is not the right way.
I've reproduced on other threads "tweets" from players and former players. Not happy.

There appears to be two schools of thought, 1) coaches should be abusive and condescending to players -- "makes 'em tough" or 2) coaches should respect players, and the coach effectiveness is measured by player respect because they want to run through walls for their coach.

Based on more years of coaching experience than any of the current occupants, I learned, perhaps the hard way, to respect the player's opinions more than that of fans and board moderators. Stitt is defining himself, in part, as having explosions of anger. Anger can be a positive tool. Not always, cfi Mike Kramer. It is too early in Stitt's FCS career to adjudge the difference between an anger of determination and an anger of petulance.

So to encapsulate what you are saying, Coach Stitt is a mushroom cloud laying mutherfucker, mutherfucker!

That works

Thanks. I honestly can't believe the "I know something but I'm not sharing but I want to share that I know and you don't because I'm a fucking douche" mentality around here sometimes.

Thank you NG I was told that they were out there but not where. Guess I took a florio reporting  on that one.
must go use soap

Badlands....you are missing the point....honest or not....this is something that you take care of in-house....not something you announce to the world...

Sounds like Stitt has some balls like a couple of great coaching legends, Bob Knight and the late Herb Brooks. Neither were afraid to challenge their current players by bringing in new competition for spots on the roster. Perhaps the new school "everybody gets a trophy and the coach should be your buddy" generation needs a crash course in the reality of life.
People get replaced all the time:

"Well Steve, you were one of the founders of this company but the board has decided to go in a new direction".

"Gee honey, I realize you've been with me through the ups and downs over 30 years, but I've decided Im moving in with Mercedes...my new 23 year old secretary, formerly a performer at the East Laurel Ballet Club and Truck Stop".

I understand that...It just doesnt bother me....I think its good for these players to not get comfortable....I think weve had a program where kids have been comfortable for toooo long!

Brady himself stated after the NDSU game he didn't play well enough to win the game.....

I am so confused.....so were the tweets about a certain player not playing well? If that is the case, I am not a fan of throwing a player under the bus (although holding them accountable is one thing). If it was throwing an adult under a bus, if an adult staff member deserted to a rival program carrying with them program's inside information I would be all for it.

Life only gives you what you are willing to accept.
Nothing more, and nothing less.

If you are OK with an 8-4 season, there is no need for change.
If you want to win championships, accept nothing less....kick ass and take names.
Fill the roster with kids who understand that their job is to be the "baddest asses" on the field, and who don't get their feelings hurt if they receive some criticism or have to compete with someone who wants their job.

That's how you end up with the "baddest asses" on the field and trophies in the case.

Who wouldn't want a team full of JD Quinns, Shan Shillingers, and Marc Marianis?

It was about the starting QB position. "I want to bring a guy in to compete. My sr. Started first 3 games and got hurt and came back last two games. Played terrible in 2nd playo..."

This calls into question his faith in last years starter, but I think it reflects on the depth behind the starter even more.

I'll give you Shan and Marc but JD? That guy was complete trash guys in the locker room didn't like him and he was trouble off the field. I don't think JD is worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence of complete class act players like Shan and Marc.

JD Quinn was great. Wasn't there a picture of him awhile back wearing a sweatshirt that said "United States of America? You mean Montana and it's 49 bitches".
