TV FOR ALL GAMES

ESPN+ isn’t a channel, so what’s the value to a viewer in Billings?

It's the same for anyone across the country. You subscribe to the ESPN+ streaming app, and watch it from a Smart TV or a Roku or other streaming device hooked up to a regular TV.

Ok. Tell me how that’s an improvement over prior years.

We don't know yet until Saturday, but based on past games on ESPN, the quality was much better than local broadcast games. Remember the games where the pass was thrown, THEN the camera panned to that location?

If you want a real improvement and you have a big neutral colored wall, get a projector and hook a Roku up to it.

Reading this thread is about as fun as beating my head against a brick wall. As an old friend used to say, "Some people. If they don't know, you just can't tell them."

Well, because unlike pluto:

-- More than 96 people can watch without bogging down the stream

-- The stream won't be 8 delayed so much that I won't have people telling me what happened in the 2nd quarter while I'm watching the coin flip.

-- the games will be archived to watch later

-- you won't be subjected to this 817 times a game:

I believe that Spanky gets most games on a local TV channel, which probably means that ESPN+ is something he will never need or use. So for him, it isn't an improvement. Spanky has no idea what people outside the local broadcast area have experienced, and the upside that this move has over prior streaming service.

If it’s good for UM and UM’s fans, great. Is this a plus that was negotiated by the Big Sky Conference and will it result in additional revenue for UM?

I don't believe their is much revenue associated with the ESPN+ agreement.

Well, it could be in the long run. More visibility by fans all over the country.

Exactly. Having the games amongst all the others that are on ESPN+ means there will be far more people likely to watch it "on a whim" that there were with Pluto. The only people who watched our games on Pluto were fans that knew the game was on Pluto. You didn't have anyone with casual interest tuning in on those channels. Good riddance.

If you have tivo you won't be able to watch the game, tivo doesn't accept the espn+ app.
