Three Montana State football players and another from Montana have been named to The Sports Network’s preseason FCS All-America team.

Bobcats senior defensive tackle Zach Minter was selected to the first team, while senior linebacker Jody Owens was a second-team pick. Junior quarterback DeNarius McGhee made the third team. Grizzlies offensive lineman Danny Kistler was also second-team selection.

Minter registered 10 tackles-for-loss for the Bobcats last season, including 7½ sacks. Owens led MSU’s defense with in tackles with 105, including 17 for loss. McGhee, who will be a junior in 2012, threw for 2,799 yards and 24 touchdowns while leading the Bobcats to a 10-3 record and a share of the Big Sky Conference title.

Kistler, a junior guard, heads up a Griz offensive line that helped the team lead the Big Sky in scoring last season at 33.9 points per game. Montana also finished third in rushing last year with an average of 210.9 yards per game while sharing the league title with MSU.

In all, 14 players from the Big Sky Conference were named to the team. Leading the list is Southern Utah’s Brad Sorensen, who was named first-team quarterback. SUU center Gavin Farr also made the first team.

Two other Big Sky players earned first-team honors. Eastern Washington wide receiver Nicholas Edwards, an All-American in 2011, is on the first team offense, along with Portland State kicker Zach Brown, a consensus All-American in 2011.

big sky pretty well represented.

ewu seems to be pretty loaded on offense.

i'm excited to see sorensen does this season.

can't wait for football....

These picks always seem to end up semi hexed?

Usually 2/3rds of these players get injured early and never get to play through mid season?
I actually hope they all do well and all end the season health?

I must be running a little fevor or something today?

Are those rhetorical questions?

Yawn, let's revisit the issue in November. This is self gratification by a small number of sportswriters that actually follow this level, they are in the minor leagues because....lol, they are not ready for prime time or they would have moved up. Some may, but many are biding their time here until they realize their true talent is selling real estate. C'mon, who cares, it's July for crying out loud. Get back to me in October and we can talk some real turkey...

it is when the "o" is in place of the "e"
Definition of FERVOR
1 : intensity of feeling or expression <booing and cheering with almost equal fervor— kitten fans before and after the 1st half of the last Griz/kitty Game> :thumb:
2 : intense heat

Of all the picks out of the Big Sky and admittedly having not seen Sorenson play, the ones with the best chance at a good pro career are Brown and Kistler.
