I'm surprised that either: the Cats didn't move up more, OR EWU didn't drop a couple spots. One of those seemed somewhat likely considering the outcome of that game.

Can't punish EWU for a win, as ugly as it may have been, so it seems that it's logical to keep them at #2. There really wasn't anywhere for the Cats to move up much since just about every team in front of them ranked #7-13 won their games.(minus Bethune-Cookman, previously ranked #12). I could maybe have seen MSU leapfrog William & Mary for the #12 spot, but the Tribe won their game against Lafayette 33-19. In my opinion, moving up one spot for a loss isn't too bad. Worst-case scenario is the Cats stay right at #14.

I think the Cats moving up 1 after losing at home is credit to MSU. They are a good team, top 10 in my opinion and they should be there in a couple weeks.

Eastern wasn't going anywhere when #3 and #4 lost and they beat #13 on the road, heck they still received first place votes.

Tough to gauge anyone in the poll this early on...

So the Bob"in on the knob"cats lose at home and show that they have no defense (we already know E wash ain't got no D) and they move up? Ok.

WTF does that mean?
Washington gave up 52 to EWU too, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯...

THis is EWU MO, score a lot of points and allow a lot of points. The team(s) that will beat EWU will be the last guy with the ball in a shoot out........ or NDSU.

So true, but it has worked over the last few years. Give up a lot of points, but get timely stops when you need them. Eastern played 5 true freshman at D-Line yesterday due to injuries including a backup tight end and an offensive lineman. Once Eastern gets their starters back, they will get more stops and maybe start to give up 40 instead of 50, haha.

A loss is a loss ... even if the team "played tough" etc., against the top-ranked team. Generally speaking, a loss -- unless there are "mitigating" factors -- will drop a team about six slots. A "good" loss, maybe only 3-4 (as for the Griz). A "bad" loss, could be a lot more -- just ask SE Louisiana, which bombed from #3 to #11 after losing to an unranked (and un-respected) opponent.

If I have to explain it you must be a eunuch.

Here are a few of my thoughts:

1. Not sure why UNH gets more love than Villanova. Villanova loses by 1 to Syracuse and UNH gets steamrolled by Toledo. The other games are a wash. Villanova is clearly the best CAA team right now and it's not even close.

2. The Coastal Carolina love is based completely on you guys. I do think they are a house of cards tho. The may make the playoffs again, but #3 rank is just silly.

3. SDSU is too low. Both SDSU are Villanova should be top 4 (with EWU and NDSU).

4. You guys are continuing to get a bunch of love mostly because of a 10 win season last year, and it's partly because of what's happening around you. You guys are playing like about a 7-5/8-4 team right now IMO. Good, but not great.

5. The Cats and grizz should clean up this week but it won't make much of a difference in this poll unless there's catastrophe with somebody. As for the Cats, the following week we will be playing on the road against a 4-1 SAC in what will certainly be a much hyped game. A solid conference road win for the Cats and we'll be in the top 10. There should be a run of several weeks with 3 BSC teams in the top 10, which would be great.

Unfortunately I think your pretty accurate with your evalulation. If our O line don't get it together, it's gonna be a long year, especially when JJ takes one too many hits and goes down.

Yeah I think you're right on at the griz being a 8-4 team, which is what I think the cats will be as well. Craig Haley with TSN has the griz and cats both playing "play-in" first-round games, which would line up with those records.

Hold the #1 team in the land to 22 points in THEIR house....drop 3 spots. Give up 52 to the #2 team in YOUR house...move up a spot.

Yep, makes perfect sense to me.

Ya, it may not look perfect in that regard, but it probably is getting the rankings closer to where they should be. I think even most griz fans think that you aren't playing like a 3 or 4 team now. Regarding MSU, ya we gave up quite a few points - but it was to the highest powered offense in the FCS, and they barely squeaked by us by one point.
