Troy Taylor (Sac St Head Coach) to Stanford

Nasty that this is out in the open, it can't be helping SacSt currently. I recall lame duck Joe Glenn losing three of his last four games on his way to Wyoming, which was no secret.

That was a painful month.

Jason Garrett just dropped out. Looks like Troy Taylor’s gonna get the job!

It would appear Taylor started this process thinking they’d be their normal “1 and done” in the playoffs…

Whoops!

We can only hope this brings Andy Thompson to UM.

Why wouldn’t Andy go to Stanford with Taylor?

I think Hornet fans expect Taylor to take Thompson as DC.

Best case scenario is that Taylor’s Folsom High and Sac State pal Richardson (Co head coach/Assistant head coach) takes the reigns and provides some stability, with current QB Coach and longtime Taylor/Richardson partner Bobby Fresques perhaps taking a formal OC role and play calling responsibilities.

He'd be the wrong choice for Stanford. Stanford is an academic institution like Cal poly and UCD. Sacramento State is more like Portland state or eastern Washington. It's the reason Beau Baldwin couldn't get it going at Cal Poly. It's a completely different recruiting approach.

As a state school dumbass, I hope he hangs around Sac State for a while.
No offense man, I'm a state school dumbass too.

We will all find out in the morning if Coach Taylor is the guy for Stanford. It would be a big win for Big Sky coaches and FCS coaches to go from top of Big Sky to a P5 team.
I am split on whether I want him to get the job, maybe it is a moot point. If he gets the job why did Coach Hauck not get a P5 look in 2008-2009.
If he doesn’t get the job it keeps Sac State in the top tier of the Big Sky.

Edit … source I saw online was wrong (which was his coaching record)

Glenn went 11-2 in his final season so probably didn’t lose 3 of his final 4.

No he didn’t. He lost to Eastern, Montana State (broke the streak), beat Northwestern State in the 1st round and lost at McNeese. What are you talking about?

You missed my first edit by 30 seconds.

Why? Did you see his defense in action tonight?

All i can think is if we could ever put a team together with Taylor’s offense and our defense we might actually MAKE a deep run into the playoffs.

Little known fact is that Stanford wanted Bobby badly, but he turned them down because he had some unfinished RTD business to conduct here in Montana. They had to settle for Troy

Why does Taylor think he can move up to big time football when he didn’t even make it past the quarters? That’s the logic people use for teams, right?

The Portal is making life tough for Stanford. They have players leave, but don't get many from the Portal. Academic standards. It's worse for the Ivies. It's a one-way street. Ivy rule prevents grads from playing. Almost no one comes to the Ivies through the Portal. High academic standards, and the Ivies don't take many transfers generally, and certainly not for one year.
