I am listening to the coaches show. Surprisingly enough, Marlin Stewart (director of Basketball Operations) is filling in for Travis. I did not hear the reasoning. It did get me thinking though. DeCuire has also allowed for all his assistants (except Bone, who has the experience already) radio time for pregame, postgame, half time, and the coaches show more than other past coaches, that I recall.
I really like this idea, plus it allows the fans to get to know the staff and get a feel for them as well. Dealing with the public is a huge part of college basketball coaching these days. Why not get the assistants the experience of dealing with the press and community early in their careers? All the coaches have been very well spoken, mannered, and professional every time I've listened to them. Is this part of Travis's commitment to his staff, and developing them?
Regardless of reasoning, I really enjoy and like hearing all the coaches and staff represent the GRIZ. Great job, Marlin.
