Future Griz, Trase Letexier, put up 20 points and grabbed 13 boards in his team's (Jefferson) opening round loss in State Class B tourney. His numbers looked like that for most of his games, even with a ton of double teams. This kid already looks like a man amongst boys. Athletes this big and coordinated can be special. So glad he is a Griz!

I think we got a steal with Letexier as a PWO. Definitely the kind of athlete with size that we want as a middle linebacker. He'd be my too-early pick to wear 37.

He's a horse! Still think he projects better as a defensive end. I think that is his best position in college. In order for him to make it as a MLB, he will have to increase his speed and improve his lateral movement. He already has the bulk and is explosive straight-ahead. Even though I'm a Cat fan, I'm really rooting hard for Trase and Jace Lewis to make it as Grizzlies. Good kids and good football players! Here is a picture of Trase chasing Jace:

UM's training program has an emphasis on overall athletic ability, improving speed, quickness, laterall movement, etc. I'd say this makes Trase ideal MLB material.

The best LB in the FCS last year was Nick Deluca, and he's 6'3" and 245. I say keep Trase at LB and he'll dominate.

You could argue that every other training program does the same thing in terms of training. Anthony Barr is 6'5", 255 lbs. and runs a 4.5 40 so I understand bigger guys can be superior athletes at LB. And you are right, a training program can make a kid faster in all areas. Cody Kirk is a great example of a kid who was relatively slow coming out of high school and he improved his speed being dedicated to the MSU training program. All I'm saying is that I project Trase to have a higher ceiling as a DE than a MLB. He will likely have less deficiencies as a DE than MLB. We all know what kind of speed you need to have to play LB in this conference nowadays. Why not let the kid use his explosion and strength at the line of scrimmage? Could he be an excellent MLB? Absolutely. I got to see the kid play twice this year and I've seen him play basketball multiple times. Just a projection. Good luck to him.

Yes the Griz did get a steal with him as a PWO. He will be a player Griz Nation loves. Trust me I know having been his football and basketball coach for the last 4 yrs I know how special he is. Not only is he talented but he's also the toughest, hardest worker, and most competitive kid I've ever coached. It's hard for me to see him go but I can't wait to see him play in Washington Grizzly Stadium. He won't be a PWO for long and for the guy who predicted he could wear #37 someday you have a very good shot at being right. Also having coached against Jace Lewis for 4 yrs. the Griz got a good one there to.

***Player I have my eye on. Arguably the most underrated signee of Class 2016. Not only does he look good on paper, 6'3" 230, he seems to have a nose for the football. His exceptional size coming out of high school intrigues me as to how far the Griz training programs can propel him. After researching Trase, I also like that he has a lot of experience. He lead Boulder to the state semifinals in 2013 and made playoff appearances in 2014 and 2015 as well. I will add the link to some the highlights I found.

Class B basketball state tournament was held in Butte this year.

l saw Trase grab a defensive rebound under the basket, then instead of looking for an outlet pass to a guard, he instead turned and took off dribbling up-court himself sprinting like a man possessed. Jace Lewis, behind the 3-pt line at the top of the key, came up and met him head-up (three quarters away from Jace's basket). Trace, with swivel hips, quickly dribbled around Jace and got a step on him. Jace, the quick kid that he is turned and ran with Jace. Jace didn't get in front of Trase (until a failed attempt to swipe the ball away) until right before Trase went up for the layup. Trase showed great speed, especially since he had to dribble the whole time...

I hope I described this play well enough, because right there I thought, "Wow...Trase will be a good Griz defender."

Jace showed good athleticism throughout the tourney as well... another good looking possibility on D.
