Maybe I should throw this in the Toure thread, but I think there was a fair amount of discussion about the negative impacts of the transfer portal, and the detrimental effects it will have on FCS football which seems to be in for a drastic overhaul anyways(like all of college football).
One of the big concerns were programs finding the diamonds in the rough and having them poached away, or having athletes not be loyal to their commitment for their entire career (which is happening at every level and even brand name programs). Given the number of athletes in football and basketball in the transfer portal that aren't finding homes, coupled with the shortage of scholarships due to COVID, it seems at least for today that losing one stud like Toure while gaining several transfers at key positions (i.e. DE, CB, OL) will still continue to be more advantageous for those programs below that are picking up guys that can't make the 2 or 3 deep at the upper level, versus the true standout phenom on a lower level team.
