Since te Griz are #1, how come we're playing the higher remaining seed whilst Weber State plays the lowest?

Shouldn't it be flipped? We play the lower remaining seed? As a reward for finishing #1?

Maybe I'm missing something?

pretty sure its a typo...we will be playing the lowest remaining seed.

I think it's confusion regarding what's high and what's low. The Griz will play the team with the l"argest number seed". Some (incorrectly) refer to that as the "higer" seed since it is technically a higher (e.g. Larger) number.

haha i think it would take a miricale or an act of congress for the cats to win 2 more games...WOW are they in bad shape

I think the Cats only have to beat Portland State in order for us to play them in the semis. I don't think it's possible to play them in the Championship. The way I see it we could play any other team but the Cats in the Championship.

This is correct. Since the BSC essentially re-seeds the tournament after the quarterfinal games, the only way for UM and msu to meet would be in the semi-finals.

Leave it to the wonderful BSC hierarchy to create this confusion....

from the Big Sky website;

2012 Bracket

For the first time in 12 years, the Big Sky Men's Basketball Championship is headed to Missoula, Mont.

Wayne Tinkle's Montana Grizzlies clinched the program's first outright Big Sky regular-season title since 1991-92 with a 66-51 victory over Weber State in front of a sold-out crowd at Dahlberg Arena on Tuesday night. Montana won for the 12th straight time and finished with a 15-1 Big Sky record. Weber State finished 14-2 and will be the No. 2 seed.

Montana was the co-regular season champion in 2000, the last time it hosted the Big Sky Championship.

Montana will play host to the conference semifinals and championship on March 6-7. Ticket details will be released soon.

In Saturday's quarterfinals, No. 6 seed Montana State will play at No. 3 seed Portland State at 7 p.m. Pacific. In the other quarterfinal, No. 5 seed Idaho State will play at No. 4 seed Eastern Washington at 2 p.m. Pacific. The winner of the two quarterfinal games will advance to Missoula.

Eastern Washington clinched the No. 4 seed with a 77-64 home win over Idaho State.

The only team that UM cannot face in the semis is Portland State. As the #3 seed, if PSU beats Montana State, they will face Weber State. If the Bobcats upset them, then MSU plays Montana. Most likely, the two home court teams will win and Weber State will play Portland State and Montana will play EWU, which is a classic 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 seed set up for the semis.

Whoever it is I hope UM is not overlooking...Weber might be feeling some pressure as well.

I don't see anybody but us beating Weber, and vice-versa. Not this year. There will be no Cinderella story.
Normally I'd say "never say never," but I tend to agree. The rest of the Sky is mostly pathetic this year.

Still, ISU only won 9 games out of 29 ... but one of those wins was against Weber. :?
