Total Defense

We rank 106th out of 123 teams in FCS for total defense giving up an average of 474.2 yards per game.

The good news is that Idaho State is 108th at 476.3, North Dakota is 115th at 490.2 and Northern Colorado is 116th at 490.3.

The bad news is that Weber State is ranked 23rd at 306.8 per game. Looking like it will be a very tough road game in Ogden this year.

Every time we go to Ogden is a tough time. It will be raining, our guys won't be able to catch the ball etc...I think we lost the last 2 or 3 times in a row at Ogden. We don't ever play well there.

This is true, but we haven’t lost there since 2010, and actually beat them there in 2012 with our dumpster fire team.

Dunno how much of a trend that makes. It will probably be our hardest remaining game, though.

Doesn't make any sense to look ahead to Weber; we will have our hands full this weekend. Anyone looking past ISU is a fool.

Not sure how me saying Weber is our hardest remaining game means I’m looking past every team before them, but even if I am, it’s a great thing I’m not on the team and it really doesn’t mean anything. :thumb:

while this is true,,,,if we continue to give up yards like we have, statistics will eventually prove us losers of those games.

Defense doesn't win championships but you will never win one without at least a respectable defense, history shows that. It's not possible to outscore every great offense every time, somewhere mistakes will do you in and having to score on 75% of possessions is not realistic at a playoff level. We need to get better soon.

Rainy day here, so I’ve been celebrating IDG’s birthday with good Mexican food and margs. It was his idea. Friday here too.

Ps. It was Yo (great running game) and a stout defense that won the last championship trophy they’ll be dressing up the cases in the champion’s center with.
