Top 5 BSC next year

i like your thoughts except Bozeman! Until they stop patting themselves on the back for losing to 5 playoff teams and beat somebody they will always be a 5-6 loser not a playoff team as they "PRETENTIOUSLY " would like! :( :( THERE IS NO GLORY IN LOSING I don't care who it's to! To suggest giving a 5-6 coach a raise and contract extension is to say sub 500 ball is more than we expect! ~"You show me a good loser I'll show you a loser". Vince Lombardi.

You're correct, in the last two years the teams they have beat were weak.

Davis might surprise, their qb is really good and I think their receiver was one of the best in the nation.

Idaho Idaho blow blow blow. But in all seriousness, just because they were a shitty bcs team doesn’t mean they aren’t going to contend instantly.

Good point! I forgot about Idaho when I was typing. Had thought about them before the post. Really dont know where to put them. Oh well if any of their fans read this it will anger them and start some football discussion I hope. Bobby is going to kick their a** anyway so they cant get too mad at me for forgetting them ;)

I am excited to rejoin the Big Sky in football. Idaho has a great coach plus good facilities and location for the Big Sky. I believe Idaho should be a top 5 Big Sky team. As for where in the top 5, that depends on how good next year's quarterback is. This year's team won four games at the FBS level and lost 5 games by 7 points or less. Had two or more of those close games gone the other way Idaho would be in a bowl game for the second straight season. I don't know much about the rest of the conference. I watched Weber State in the playoffs and love their style of play. They are a fun team to watch. Montana and Eastern Washington could easily rebound and compete for another national championship. Good luck with the new coach and I can't wait for next year's Idaho vs Montana game.

Thanks for posting! I really havent seen Idaho play for a few years. Are you more of a spread read option or a power run heavy team? I do remember you played MSU last year have you played any other BSC teams recently? Do you think you will be able to maintain your coaches salaries (I may be wrong but I think they are getting paid more than most FCS coaches) and if not do you think they will stay?

Idaho beat Sac State this year 28-6. Next year's offense will depend on who wins the qb job. One guy is huge and a traditional throwing qb. The other guy is very mobile. As for the coaches salaries I don't know. We are going to play 2 games against FBS schools which will bring in money, but I don't think that is sustainable. I would like to only play one FBS game and play other FCS schools for nonconference games. Who does Montana typically play for noncknference games? My guess is Petrino will stay for at least two more years. His son is on the team and has two more years of eligibility. Paul Petrino seems to have a lot more loyalty than his brother. His daughter plays softball for the Griz.

I honestly don't care what you think.

Where do you think you guys fit in BigSky? Possibly you will be better than I think. I would have put you in the bottom 3. To be fair, like I said I am not knowledgable regarding injuries, graduation, youth of most of the teams and I could be very wrong. Could be an interesting year next year as even Sac and Davis showed some real ability and CPSLO is usually at least middle of the pack. In CDA's defense he does like to get a rise out of people at times but I think his response was genuine and not meant to be disrespectful. Ask him a genuine question and you usually get a genuine response. If he is being disrespectful it is usually pretty clear.

He's a douchebag.

As far as our team, it's hard to say. I would say middle-of-the-pack. That depends on a healthy Jacob Knipp though.

You lost him pretty early in the year I think? Definitely before our game. Well maybe you will be right. Someone has to be at the bottom though and I like to think it won't be us.

Yes. I believe week 3 or 4. UNC's biggest struggle though was offensive line. As I mentioned, we were starting 4 true freshmen on the line. John Elway wouldn't have much success with four true freshmen on an offensive line. So for next year, hopefully they've hit the weight room and developed strength to move guys around; if not we will be bottom of the conference for sure.

We are kind of all over for OOC schedule. Historically anywhere from D2 to P5 FBS. Played UW this year. Almost had them. Played a couple of poor to mediocre FCS teams as well.

I have seen supportive tweets from Petrino regarding lady griz sports and was aware he had a daughter here. Did not know he had a son at UI.

Pretty good win against Sac State they have shown some promise this past year though I dont think they are ready for top of the conference.

Yeah, it's funny how a weak line and injured QBs can go hand in hand.

Well good luck. Too bad we have to wait so long to find out. Should be a fun year in the BSC next year and maybe our conference will be strong nationally next year as well given WSU represented us admirably this year.

Just had to chime in here.

Weber does lose a few seniors this year, 3 on O and 4 or 5 on D. However, we already have a lot of depth built in, with a lot of talent waiting in the wings. Hill has had 4 good recruiting classes in a row, and will likely have another this year. I don't expect us to miss a beat. If anything, the O looks to be stronger next year. Our D will need to fill some DL spots for depth, but we seem to have a good handle on that sort of thing.

I wouldn't start counting us out just yet. Well, maybe you should go ahead and do that. It seems to work as motivation for our program.

Your blind hatred of anything MSU makes anything you post completely biased and not remotely credible and I don't believe many people on this site (including your fellow Griz fans) take ANYTHING you post seriously. You say the same thing in Every. Single. Post.

I realize I'm a Cat fan in a Griz forum, but there can usually be some good discussion or topics brought up here, this thread included. I usually don't give in and respond to these type of posts, and I won't be after this, but the un-intelligent nature of your posts just made me say something. I'm sure I can speak for at least a few people on here by saying, take a break for awhile until you bring something more to the table than what you posted above.

Hate to say it but MSU is much closer than we would like to admit.

WSU could contend next year.

I hate to admit it too , state ag is on an upward trend .

This! Most 2017 BSC moral victories :thumb:

Dude, they've led the conference in close calls and moral victories for nearly a decade. I, for one, am just glad Choache had been able to keep the moral victory flame under the Ron Ash hot tub burning thus far. At least we know some coaches can keep traditions alive.

You are probably right and know your team better than I do. Though I did pick you to win. It will be tough to replace Vollert though or do you have another guy you think that can pretty much replace him?

You are right. You don't replace a guy like that over night. However, there is a whole stable of WRs waiting in the wings. I think there were a couple of RS tight ends as well. We don't need another Vollert, as long as the group can pick up the slack. The entire O line comes back and there were a couple of very good QBs red shirting. As with all teams, what happens in the spring and summer will be huge.

My feelings are that UM and MSU will both step up next year. SUU will be back at about the same strenght they were this year. Will that be enough? I'm really not sure, because I feel that the BSC will be stronger, top to bottom. I hope we, as a league, get a little more respect than we did this year from the selection committee.

I think you'll have a very good team next year, you're building the program the right way in my opinion. You have 3 to 4 players that will be very hard to replace, kids that are hard to get at this level. I really think you're quarterback was very under rated in my book, can't believe he didn't get any conference awards. When you lost him against SUU, totally different team offensively, couldn't seem to get any offense going. I wouldn't worry too much about next year, you'll be fine.
