Top 16

The reduction in fan expectations is the result of 10+ years passing by without a team which can compete realistically for a national championship. Fans from that previous era grow old. New fans either weren't around, or have a dulled memory of those great teams we had year-after-year. So, the standards for measuring success go down to match our level of performance.
Hauck set himself up for criticism from many fans by coining his RTD phrase. As for me, I will not be satisfied until we are able to consistently be a top 5 team nationally, win the Big Sky, beat the Cats, and go deep into the playoffs.

Great post one of the best I've seen on here in a very long time. I'm almost like that but I am not happy with a top 5 because there is no need to settle. Top 3 maybe but it would still piss me off. Strive for excellence and if you fail own it don't sugar coat it like the asshats on here do. It's stomach turning to see the watered down expectations from weak fans

For 80 years, the Griz would’ve loved to have the kind of seasons we have now. Entitlement is real. And if we ever move up, 6 wins and a bowl game will be considered successful.

Cheer for the Griz because they are your team! Not because they win 12 games every year.

I think it’s funny some posters say they won’t be satisfied with anything but being at or near the top, even thought they accomplished much,
If anything, for themselves and nothing even close to the top of anything. It’s easy to talk big behind a keyboard.

So is everyone gonna be happy with "Top 16" for the next five? Sixth in the BSC. Seems like a really tall order if nothing changes.

Three seasons back they were "ahead of schedule" and the future was bright. Covid hits and the team is year older and hopefully bigger/stronger. Blocked punt, four interceptions at Weebs. Beat Washington last season, but there "weren't enough dudes" to finish the job as they'd hoped. Not my words.

This season, "best team", again - not my words. There's a depth chart for a reason, don't experiment - meaning don't play freshmen unless it's an emergency. Even then, not so much. The ball seems to never find the playmakers enough. Now it's the bigger and better transfer portal. But it only makes sense to recruit kids who come to a camp or that the coaches have some connection to. That will get you at least half the team from Montana. That's only right, isn't it?

Now a chance to measure up to the "gold standard."

Next season, new drop down, same old program? We'll "out tough em." RTD?

Getting more difficult for you to defend your boy these days? Your posts are getting more desperate and ridiculous in doing so. Trying to convince Griz fans to accept the current reality only works with the weak.

It has nothing to do with cheering for my team. I do that regardless of how many games they win. It is all about having the best facilities in FCS football, the largest most loyal fan base, the best game-day experience, then watching our neighbors to the East surpass us, and fans like you expecting me to accept it without expecting more.

This is great! You two are awesome. Don’t ever stop!

For the board, do you think these 2 posts are:
a) growler quoting growler?
b) growler quoting alpha?
c) alpha quoting growler? Or
d) alpha quoting alpha?

It sounds like a) to me.

I’m as tired as any of you of the board being clogged up so I will bite. First garizzlies it sounds like A to me.

As far as top sixteen or top three I’m extremely tired of comparing apples to oranges. This team has and will have big goals. Win the big sky, win the national title, beat the cats, and graduate. I would say during this second stint there has been an unspoken rule/goal and that is to be exemplary off the field. Some years we will not achieve any or all of these goals. However, trying to pretend like Bobby was starting out this second stint as he was his first stint (with 2 national titles in the previous decade as well as multiple appearances, a double digit streak over the cats, and a string of big sky titles, and playoff appearances) would be disingenuous. This university is coming off one of the decidedly worst stretches we’ve had in decades. A national scandal, dropping enrollment, poor success on and off the field.

Now to my knowledge we’ve had multiple winning seasons in a row, three straight playoff appearances, and two of those higher than anything in the last decade with this year to be determined. We’ve had great academic results for a college football team. We’re not seeing athletes show up in the paper except one in 5 years which was an act of self defense downtown, and by a player who is no longer on the team. We haven’t hit a lot of those goals yet but we are hitting the most important 2 at this time. The university is rebounding and not shooting itself in the foot.

Now, there is much more to accomplish, and this program needs to continue to build. This staff needs to take a hard look in the mirror and make the adjustments to get us to the next level and attaining those other goals. This is a weakness that this staff has had and one we will see if they can correct. It happened during the first stint.

As a fan I can enjoy what we have at the moment versus the last decade without maroon colored glasses. I look forward to the future and watching us continue to work to attain goals. I will be frustrated at times and pleasantly surprised at times, and regardless of those outcomes my life will move on, because this is just a game after all, and thanks to my degree from this university, my love for this town and state, and all the other blessings outside of griz football, I don’t judge my happiness by singular events. Hope you can count your blessings and learn to cheer on these guys through thick and thin.

So says the Bobcat fan. Troll. You’re not even good at it.

You know what - I'm thinking The Griz are not going over to Fargo to lose! I believe their mindset is nothing less than a victory as it should be! Time to prove the negative Nancys wrong! Go Griz!

I’m not satisfied unless we win the NC every year by at least 4 TDs using only the plays I think we should run. Until that happens every season, I will make the same post 1,500 times or more from three different usernames and believe that nobody notices.

I totally agree. Ford could have easily entered the portal but stayed to win a national championship. Not for one minute do I think the team is showing up to just show up. I have no idea how it’s going to end up but I do know they are going to give it all they got!

Go Griz!

Ford can only guard one guy. Until we teach the rest of the DB’s how to defend against the pass (or run a scheme where they’re not so exposed), we probably are going to continue to get gashed like we do.
