Too Much Euphoria?

When asked about whether Cal Poly has an advantage of having seen the Griz play last Saturday, Stitt said that the offensive gameplan changes week to week. So while Cal Poly might have an idea of what to expect, Stitt is going to have a new strategy for the offense. Stitt has this team focused, and there will not be a let down. Take it one game at a time, execute, and come out with the win.

Good post.

But to be honest, I don't give a rats ass if they know the whole exact offensive game plan, play for play! They still have to stop us! And our QB and WRs are pretty much unstoppable.

Players make plays.

Another problem with last year's offense in the Cal Poly game? They only ran 52 plays.

And wasn't it a similar lumber for the ndsu game last year as well? I thought I saw that somewhere. So obviously makes a difference.

Pretty sure someone said it was 46 plays in Fargo.
Holy hell we were inept.

Inept certainly, painfully predictable also......

If the Griz lose, it won't be because of euphoria or a letdown or lack of focus. It will be because they couldn't stop the Poly offense again, because they are banged up from the NDSU game or a variety of other reasons, none of which have to do with focus. As for what the fans feel, who cares, the only affect we have on the game is crowd noise, and despite the fact that I'm really disappointed this game isn't sold out, and that I already hear people talking about skipping it because of a forecast of colder temps and "scattered thunderstorms", I'm sure the crowd noise will be there when the Griz need it.

Too much euphoria? That's crazy. Stitt will have his staff and players focused on the game each and every week. Griz Nation, on the other hand, should be ramping up the euphoria week in and week out as the season progresses. Win, lose or draw our job as fans is to support the team...the program..and the university. Sounds to me like you need a tall glass of Griz KoolAid.

That's it...I'm moving to Missoula. Anyone looking for a primary care sports medicine doc?

Oh no, I've got my own jar of kool-aid. My worry is that the media circus will detract from preparation. I have no basis for this other than a pretty constant stream of interviews by the coach and some mild Griz related neurosis. I'm not worried about fan euphoria (that's a good thing); I'm worried about coach and player euphoria.

Lack of focus? That Stitt won't happen.

This. Let's try not to confuse how the fans feel about the situation and how the players/coaches do...

This :thumb: We tend to overestimate the influence that eGriz has on the Griz

Not necessarily euphoria ... but here's an observation.

Been bouncing around between the FBS games being televised. Neither the Griz nor NDSU were exactly "a well-oiled machine" in their first games. But all these (supposedly) 4-star and 5-star athletes playing for the big boys ain't exactly looking so hot either -- really stupid penalties, ragged play all around, etc. etc. At the moment, I'd put the level of play (for a first game) in the Griz game way higher that what we're seeing now. Just - IMO.

Ok I get it. I think your concern is certainly valid. We have all seen teams fall victim to the dreaded trap game over the years. I don't know why for sure but for some reason I have an incredible amount of confidence in our new coach and his abilities. Not just on game day but everyday. I think Coach Stitt will have the boys fired up and ready to roll each and every day. Now head over to your fridge and pour yourself a glass of that maroon Kool-Aid. It tastes sooooo good and it will put your mind at ease.
