Tomorrows Board of Regents Meeting

We don't agree on much, but you nailed it. For Griz fans, this isn't about MSU "doing the right thing". It's about hoping something happens to them that levels the playing field and makes us competitive again.

What about wanting to have ONE standard of behavior for both programs? Would that be an acceptable motive?
Amen mama!
This ain't about cat/Griz or even football.
I’m a resident of this fine state, have to share the road with these so-called state employees, and my tax dollars went towards a fucking raise?!?!
Any other state employee would be long gone, especially if in Missoula.

I watched today's BOR meeting. Apparently they do not discuss personnel matters in public either. They said those matters would be discussed in the executive session and not before the public.
Do you support your college’s “win at all costs” approach to this whole debacle?

I have stated this before. I do not like the way this has been handled. I have voiced my displeasure with the AD. If both are found guilty, I feel they should be fired.

I rarely agree with BS33 and I am no Bobcat fan. Knowing that, he has been pretty clear about his position on this issue and how poorly it has been handled. I say give him a break. He, nor other Cat fans can rectify this mess (unless they are on the BOR or they are an MSU administrator.) if this is not handled appropriately, they are setting a very dangerous precedent. One that could open a can of worms with other state employees who have incidents in the future. There is NO way to put lipstick on this swine. Such a bad look for MSU and it literally has chipped away at their reputation and integrity.

Both? You mean all three?

You’ve gained some respect from me for saying that, probably only two bubs on the board who would. But it’s not really what I asked.

So your answer sounds just like window dressing. Want to know why? Here, let’s test it.

Would you admit MSDUi has taken a win at all costs approach?

[spoil]
Please make some dumb “due-process” argument and prove my point. Mr. Hoops has already shown that’s bull shit

You can label it how you want. I honestly do not think it is that. I think the decisions on how it is being handled are being made at a higher level outside the athletic dept. Just my take.

You have made a big effort to be reasonable and have a hard conversation on this board, so please don't take this as me attacking you. But the point folks here are making is EXACTLY that it is a "win at all costs" mentality above the athletic department. The conversation is that the entire administration has decided that winning is all that matters.

Part of this reason this is so touchy is that our University was accused of the same and absolutely gutted around the treatment of Jordan Johnson, when he turned out to be innocent. I still hear from people that the Griz care about nothing but winning football games because of that specific situation.

I agree. So, who?

You can’t disagree with the handling and say it’s out of HC’s and AD’s hands without acknowledging that it’s in someone’s hands higher up, and that person is the one fucking it up.

Most bubs ignore this issue. Probably 90%+.

The few who will acknowledge it, may disagree and not like it, but I have yet to come across a single bub who will admit what this truly is: win-at-all-costs. Which is funny because it proves it. Every one of them would rather win than make the tough decision = W@AC

The crazy part is, bubs loved accusing Griz of this crap for players or fans giving free hotdogs. I don’t recall coaches?

I would say their legal staff has something to do with it. However, beyond that I do not have any idea what the chain of command is above the AD. Not trying to be evasive. I just don’t know. There are so many different high administrative positions nowadays it is hard to keep up.

I get it. Keep in mind that attorneys give advice, but administrators make decisions.

Funny side note:

This afternoon the fire alarm was pulled in the capital bldg. As it was being evacuated, I had to smirk thinking about the BOR meeting going on and an MSdUi Rep pulling the alarm as the meeting started going badly for them. Was Waded at the Capital today? 😏

This is exactly right. Lawyers make zero decisions. Leaders lead. MSdui has zero leaders.

Any Head Coach that relinquishes responsibility for hiring/firing/benching decisions is no Head Coach. This cat staff is a mess and it will eventually catch up to the Program.

Imagine the first time a player gets a DUI...or an AG Professor...or anyone else at the institution that was the biggest mistake in the land-grant era.

Oh, I agree whole-heartedly.

However, remember, that was not a Board of Regents issue for UM. That was Royce unilaterally deciding to death nail the football program. Barking at the regents really does not relate to what happened back then.

Just watched the youtube video of the BOR meeting. The big thing that jumped out at me is that our Superintendent of Public Instruction is batsh!t crazy.

I can tell you that they can get VERY stern with the University Presidents in those executive meetings. I watched Engstrom walk out looking like he saw a ghost near the end of his tenure.
Anybody seen Waded today? Does she look like she saw a ghost? Does she look like she suddenly lost about 50#, all in the gluteal area?

So, roughly as crazy as anyone who would allow a coach with 3 (THREE!!) DUIs and a termination for cheating continue mentoring college age athletes; or a coach who crashes a car he doesn’t own, commits a felony by fleeing the scene, calls a subordinate to come and destroy evidence, lies to officers and then isn’t even man enough to plead guilty.

Yeah, if he’s on that level he’s TRULY batshit keeeeerazy, all right.

Au contraire Raider. Why didn't the BOR and Clayton Christian put a stop to Engstrom's BS? It took a hands off stance for FIVE F*CKIN' YEARS, allowing UM to get corkscrewed into the ground, finally firing him, long after his damage was done, and continues to 'hamper' (to put it mildly) the entire University. The BOR and Commissioner need to get off their asses and clean house at MSdUi, Cruzado down to Mix.

My apologies, and thanks for the correction. I’m obviously not as connected as I once was.

She doesn’t drink and drive, does she?
