Ha. 13 minutes. 13:06 (credit: GrizRule).

I posted a few times this week, I felt he would see more minutes against Weber State. He actually saw time relatively early, to my surprise. He did a great job boxing out and got physical.

Well it WAS Senior's Night and his folks were there, but he had a good showing and I hope he will get more playing time from here on out.

Exactly why he got minutes...

Senior Night had nothing to do with his playing time. They needed his good and physical play, and he played fairly well. Coaches and friends had back room of Depot Deck reserved, and I was there, and stayed around after the game to talk to people after they came out of the locker room.

Nope.

The reason Kemp got more minutes was because of who we were playing. Putting a physical big on Bolomboy (and double teaming him) is the best way to frustrate the hell out of him and keep him in check. Kemp, Krslovic and Breunig did great jobs doing just that. He had as many turnovers as points.

Was not a surprise to me at all to see Kemp's minutes higher this game. It just makes sense against a team like Weber. You could see it with how DeCuire substituted in this game. Bolomboy in? Krslovic/Breunig, Krslovic/Kemp, Kemp/Breunig are likely going to be in. Bolomboy out? Can go smaller now if we want to.

It's great Travis has been able to find a role for Chris: blocking out and double teams. He does fairly well in those limited areas. His role is damage control.
Perhaps a true evaluation of his minutes would be to do what they do in pros which is a +/- of his time in game versus what the score what the scoring margin when he's not. I'm not sure what it would be but am fairly sure it would not be favorable.
I don't think anybody should attempt to diminish his contributions but on the other hand we shouldn't give up playing time for Weisner, Lopez, Krslovic, and Breunig.

Coaches use players based on match ups and results. We as a team did great against Bolomboy including Chris he filled his role great last night and that is why coaches reach this level is because they know match ups and who to play any given night. I don't take any credit away from chris and his efforts. Don't be surprised though if he barely sees the floor against Idaho. Again I think he has a role on our team but I do not believe it is to take anymore minutes away from guys that are in front of him. Great team effort last night from all the boys, loved what I say from Bradshaw last night!!! Chris made some great defensive plays against Bolomboy
