Being a Griz fan is... well like being a Griz fan.
We ALL expect to win the National Championships every season.
If we don't we are unhappy.

Most Griz fans are unhappy this year because of our antique styled offense and the subsequent play calling that seems to occur over and over. Every game up to this point has been the same-o same-o. Let's face it, we look bad.

Die hard fans like me see a slight ray of light coming through the tunnel at Wa Griz and actually believe we will see an improved offense this weekend. Why? Because of the coaching? Hell no! The return of many of our best players is why, THEY will make us look better. I still have faith and I ain't no preacher man. I will be at the game and stay till the end and live to bitch about it all next week if I am wrong.

About the QBs and other players, they do the best they can. Period.

Speak for yourself. Not all of us are retarded enough to have expectations that unrealistic.

Considering who've the Griz have played, and how many offensive starters they've been without, I'm actually DAMN pleased with those numbers. They'll be right where they belong by year's end (as will the Griz, by which I mean deep into the playoffs).
I think this is spot on. I believe we will make the playoffs and make a deep run this year provided we play at home and don't have to travel to an indoor carpeted facility right off the bat like Northern Iowa or NDSU.

While I certainly don't agree with the Tribune's diatribe, we need to face facts. To date JJ simply has not been as sharp as he was last season. We can make all the excuses we want regarding the inexperience of the O line, the injuries to key personnel or the tremendous defenses the Grizzlies have faced so far this year. But the bottom line is that JJ has not performed as well as griz fan's were anticipating. Even when he has had time and open receivers he has often been high or behind the receiver on his throws. We just did not see that last year with the regularity we are seeing it this year.

My opinion is that the concussion he sustained against Wyoming has been more troublesome than anyone is admitting. He just doesn't seem to be seeing the field the way he did last year. This could be a lingering effect of that concussion. I think this bye week could not have come at a better time for JJ. I would certainly anticipate improved play from the entire offense going forward.

I agree that JJ has not made the throws that he has made in the past. Concussion the reason? Maybe but I think it is as much that he is being expected to stand in the pocket longer. The OC(s) really, really want to run a Pro-set offense, not a spread option or even spread hybrid with anything else. They want JJ to stand in the pocket longer to find open receivers. I believe it is alien to his DNA. He has, dating back to high school, started most plays with some kind of movement (or very quick throw) and not just a straight drop back/scan the field, time after time. He is not tall enough to stand in the pocket, the pocket is not stable enough anyway. If you watch closely, the best plays he makes involve his feet. However, I will add that even on bootlegs/roll-outs I have seen him miss throws he used to routinely make so maybe the knocks to the head are weighing on him too.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that the receiving corps has been almost as decimated by injuries as the offensive line. Despite that, as has been pointed out, we have some defensive weaklings on our schedule from here on out, and I guarantee you the offensive stats will change significantly for the better, while defensive stats will decline a bit. If you care about stats, that is.

Offensively, I just want to see a consistent offense again. This team can go far even with an average to just above average offense. Our Defense combined with mother nature will keep the GRIZ in many games. The offense just has to step it up a little. With the circumstances at hand and personnel, I don't expect a dynamic offense, just one that can be relied on for about 30 points per game. I honestly feel that is about all we need offensively. I think that is a pretty realistic expectation and read of this team.

I will be surprised if we hold EWU and MSU to less than 30 points. I want to see our offense be able to support our defense, especially in those 2 games.

Let's see how the team looks after the bye week.
