Heres the problem with shmit and others negativity about this season. MANY on this board were extremely negative/pessimistic leading up to this season. No returning starters on defense, huge skepticism and negativity about the qb position, the o line ect.
I, along with hoops and some others, were optimistic about ah hat, our o line, our defense, and beat our heads against a wall with many of you on this board about how bad the season could possibly be.
Myself, hoops, and others remained optimistic all season. Several negative Nancy's started crying mid season. (Including shmit). This is in the midst of an undefeated season. Meanwhile, shmit talked all kinds of shit to bobcats about their loss to South Dakota state. I didnt watch it because he sucks, but it sounds like it was very aggressive against the cats and cats fans.
Fast forward to the end of the season, we get beat in an instant classic. Defeat happens in competition, and we very well couldve come out on top, but we didnt. 11-1. Lets make a run in the playoffs, get em again. We are it to the semifinals, and end on an excruciating loss to the cats. Painful, yes. But all the neggies are forgetting they predicted we had no qb, no defense, and no oline, and most likely were doomed pre season.
And dumbass shmit jumps on as quick as he can to declare "i told you so", forgetting how right us optimistic fans had been all year about everything. I'll still stand on it, our trenches were good enough to win it all this year. We didn't win it all, and thats a bummer. As predicted by us optimistic fans, our qb was elite and our defense was vastly improved, as was our o line and dline play.
Those of us that know football and competition know we have room to improve as a team. Im confident we'll do it. Weve got young studs the staff likes on oline and d line, and we're primed to level up again in the portal. We've got good chances to keep our core of offensive studs (i pray, and have heard to be the case). And same for our underclassmen defensive studs.
I'm now convinced that andy shmit was embarrassed by all the shit he talked about the cats getting beat by sdsu, and is so self conscious and cares so much what others say about him that he felt so compelled to "gloat" about being "right" and felt enabled by all the other neggies to pod about all the big deficiencies of a 13-2 team with a right future ahead. Maybe im right, maybe im wrong, dont really care. I'll continue to view things my own optimistic way knowing ball, and support our program and its improvement as best i canGO GRIZ

I dont need help with math.Really? Good god dude. They got beat by 25 points.
Good god, dude, UM lost a first-round playoff game by 43 points in 1998. Maybe you don’t remember.Really? Good god dude. They got beat by 25 points.
Who offered him supposedly?Supposedly $750K, which IF TRUE means he is as good as gone.
Wortham and Gillman constitute a giant % of our offense. Would be a tremendous challenge to replace both of them.
I was at that game and the 1998 Griz team quit on the coaches and fans that day. It was a beat down like I had never seen before in all my years with high school and college football and the game wasn't as close as the score indicated.Good god, dude, UM lost a first-round playoff game by 43 points in 1998. It was a good season. Nobody likes losing, especially to the Bobcats, but it’s not the downfall of Griz football.
43 points isn’t a historically massive blowout especially taking into account high school football. The game must have been a lot worse than the score indicates if it was the worst you have seen all time.I was at that game and the 1998 Griz team quit on the coaches and fans that day. It was a beat down like I had never seen before in all my years with high school and college football and the game wasn't as close as the score indicated. The next year was Mick's last year as head coach of the Griz. I thought highly of Mick and thought he was a great guy and great position coach. Maybe the same situation will happen next year and we can move on from Hauck 2.0 and complacency.
I don't recall it being that way. I remember a lot of optimism around all the three star recruits that came out of the portal. Getting the BSC MVP from EWU. Eli Gilman coming back and a senior heavy offensive line. How there were several USC stellar athletes coming including a QB. I remember a whole lot of 12-0 prefictions including the guys on the sideline lackey podcats.Heres the problem with shmit and others negativity about this season. You are an odd poster. Youre not advocating for a shitty season just so we can get rid of hauck, are you? Surely you're not...I was at that game and the 1998 Griz team quit on the coaches and fans that day. It was a beat down like I had never seen before in all my years with high school and college football and the game wasn't as close as the score indicated.
If you think the 1998 season at 8-4 was a good season, you have a distorted sense of reality when it comes to Griz football. Especially after we had one the National Championship in 1995 and went to the National Championship in 1996. By the way, the next year was Mick's last year as head coach of the Griz. I thought highly of Mick and thought he was a great guy and great position coach. Maybe the same situation will happen next year and we can move on from Hauck 2.0 and complacency and we can turn to another championship D2 coach.
It was the worst I had seen at that time for a team I was involved with or was a fan of.43 points isn’t a historically massive blowout especially taking into account high school football. The game must have been a lot worse than the score indicates if it was the worst you have seen all time.
There were a ton of pessimism about KAY specifically. A TON. And our defense and o line. Internally it vividly, because of course, I was battling those posters. HaI don't recall it being that way. I remember a lot of optimism around all the three star recruits that came out of the portal. Getting the BSC MVP from EWU. Eli Gilman coming back and a senior heavy offensive line. How there were several USC stellar athletes coming including a QB. I remember a whole lot of 12-0 prefictions including the guys on the sideline lackey podcats.
I remember a lot of predictions about how bad the cats were going to suffer without Tommy Mellot carrying the team on his back. I remember alot of predictions about the bobcats not winning a BSC game without Tommy.
I predicted 10-2 for the griz and 9-3 for the cats. Both teams exceeded my expectations.
It is hard for me to believe that a rational person would have anything but praise for either team. The griz are 13-2. The narrative that the cats dominated them is actually kind of silly. The first game was really evenly matched with the exception of the cats dominating in the trenches on the last drive. The second game got away from the griz late. But there will be an entirely new complexion to these two teams by next fall. Trying to predict next year and how it will go is about as predictable as the stock market.
I never root against the Griz, EVER! I'm hoping Bobby realizes he's done all he can do and realizes it's time to hand the whistle to someone else and we go and get a championship caliber D2 coach in the mold of Joe Glenn. You are an odd poster. Youre not advocating for a shitty season just so we can get rid of hauck, are you? Surely you're not...
Agree with you Nick. There was a ton of pessimism about KAY, all of the transfers coming in, especially on defense, and whether they would gel. If my memory serves me right, it seems like there was more optimism about the offensive line than almost any other position other than RB. I was also one battling the negative nellys. There were a ton of pessimism about KAY specifically. A TON. And our defense and o line. Internally it vividly, because of course, I was battling those posters. Ha

Agree. It was awful.

You did say it was a good season. Agree that we won a national championship three years later with a new coach who had won a championship at the D2 level - Joe Glenn. If you think the 1998 season at 8-4 was a good season, you have a distorted sense of reality when it comes to Griz football.
Never said it was a good season. But UM won the national championship three years later. So, a 25-point loss is not the end of the world.

Two separate paragraphs and the context was clear: I said 2025 was a good season. And it was.You did say it was a good season. Agree that we won a national championship three years later with a new coach who had won a championship at the D2 level - Joe Glenn.
EVERY YEAR I'm rooting for the Griz and coaches to win a championship. However, for the last 24 years, we haven't. It's like rooting for the Minnesota Vikings, often close but no championship. In order to win a championship, we need to bring in champions. Champions win championships.Im rooting for the coach we have to win a championship next season.
Are you a champion? What makes you entitled to championships? I want to win a championship, too. I was at the 95 championship in Huntington.EVERY YEAR I'm rooting for the Griz and coaches to win a championship. However, for the last 24 years, we haven't.
