Title Race

I think we’re still a year or two away, but what the hell, it will be fun to see if we can pull it off!

Agreed. I will not be surprised either way if we win the title or not. My expectations for this season was for more of a middle of a pack finish. The play out of events thus far has been a revelation of sorts. If we win the title, that’s just gravy at this point. The team is so far ahead of every one’s expectations

Why stop dreaming now, lets make the dance. Could happen.....

Oh man, I am hopeful of that, but also realistic that it may not happen. Definitely a few teams that are capable of going to the ncaa tournament this year.

Will happen! We are in the drivers seat!
We can do this!

I don't see it as a dream. I think the Griz are more likely to win the conference and tourney than any of those other teams. The Griz have very good players, are playing well, are deep, are very motivated, and have great coaching. I don't see the Griz as having weaknesses, or else they've been able to cover up for them or cobble together a solution. What's not to like.

Wish I could go to Boise. My wife is making me go to Indian Wells.

Yup, fuck the next year talk, we’re in 1st place RIGHT NOW with two home games to play. We’ve got an excellent path to a conference title (regular season, tournament, or both) so let’s do the damn thing.

And as much as I like the talent coming in next year, we’re losing A TON from this team nothing is guaranteed in CBB so it’ll be an impressive feat if we’re in this position again next year.

Next year won't be as impressive as this year (to be in the same position). Not with Gaskin and Steadman waiting in the wings to join Falls, DCH, Owens, Egun, Anderson, etc....Adding Gaskin and Steadman to a seasoned group of youngsters is light years ahead of where we started this year.

This is, IMHO, TD's best coaching job ever.

Went to Boise last year and it was way more fun than I imagined it would be...
At the start of the season we didn't expect that the Griz had much of a chance with the loss of Ogine, Rorie, Moorehead and Akoe... and really didn't expect to take the trip, but we did reserve a room just in case. Thursday's game will decide for us...
This season has gone far, far better than expected.... And all my expectations are built on what I've learned here, watching the team and listening to Travis pre and post games

seriously, I do not see anything but a clear path for the Griz. They would have to really have it fall apart in boise and don't see that happening.

Griz have to win big sky to get to the tourney right?

I guess not necessarily the 16th seed, but more than likely?

We're in a dogfight this year for the title and we're losing our best 3 offensive players so I wouldn't expect next year to be a whole lot easier. Steadman and Gaskin are exciting players but they have one season of college ball between them and 4 wins so that's big shoes for them to fill. I'm certainly not going to count out a TDC team but next year but it's going to be another challenge for him to make things work with a bunch of new players and new roles.

Exactly. We gotta win the BSC tourney in Boise to get in the NCAA tourney. The only incentive to being regular-season champs is to ensure an NIT bid, I think. The lack of the ability to host the tourney really punishes the regular-season champ as the top 5 teams get a bye and are in the same boat basically.

OK thanks I am just getting ahead up on my bracket.

Looks like you have it sewn up barring anything major.

Any big players to come back from injury or full strength?

Agree with all sentiments. The seniors have been amazingly consistent in conference play at a very high level. Manuel deserves 2nd team all conference, he has been so steady. Would be gravy and I hope they get there to reward a job well done.

There will be just as many if not more moving parts and new guys learning to play together next year and no proven leaders (at least to start off) so I'd bet there will be early struggles again. The talent will be there no doubt. And yeah it's a no brainer who the COY is.

They aren't a dominant team and don't bulldoze people. They can lose to most anyone on a bad shooting night or if they have a bad turnover differential game. They have shown if they play near their best they should be there on Saturday for the chance to Dance though. I'm very optimistic but it won't be a breeze by any stretch.
