Well, I wouldn't go if someone paid my way. I despise the SEC, and it makes me ill to realize there will be two SEC teams playing for the championship. To be honest, I may not watch.

Wish I still lived in Georgia this year and somebody would provide me tickets. Hated my time at Fort Benning and Fort Stewart but loved watching, coaching and attending football games there. It was like high school football was when I was a kid in Montana. There was Butte High School and whoever was going to come in second.

Its such bullshit how these ticket sites jack up the prices for these things, its unreal fraud. I wish Pearl Jam would have crushed them in the courts.

Theyre so not needed in 2018. Why the hell do they still exist? Anymore you go to buy tickets, say you have 200$ tickets to a game, two seats. Well guess what, ticketmaster is going to add on an additional 50-60 dollar "service" fee adding on another 120$ to your final price.

What that service fee is, who the fuck knows??? I'm assuming its the god damn computer doing computer shit, and automatically populating your info on to the freaking electronic ticket that gets sent to your damn phone. They dont even pay for paper anymore!!!!

Better start liking SEC football, because thats the style were about to play boys.

It's not the style of football I dislike. It's the arrogance, the notion of superiority, the we-can-get-away-with-anything attitude -- and, the amount of money these schools spend on a game played by kids.

Definitely correct. I fully understand this is a website dedicated to I-AA football, but:

Even Choate in BozeAngeles has a couple of Georgia kids on that team now. The reality of the fact is this is more than a game. Even though Mr. and Mrs. Washington are investing in this school's education department and athletic facilities, they have a ways to go to help Montana catch up with Georgia's HOPE Scholarship. There, all anyone has to do is maintain a B average or higher and their education is free to include Medical School, law school, and any Doctorate of their choosing. Perhaps were Montana to put education first...

Having taken an SEC bucket list trip to the Georgia - Tennessee game in Athens four years ago I discovered a new and unshakable appreciation for their football not just from the quality of play but from the atmosphere that began with the drive over from Atlanta and on into a party venue shared with 92,000 other folks. I never saw the arrogance or sense of entitlement 68 griz alluded to - just a bunch of great fans who refreshed our mix supply and were genuinely appreciative that a couple Yankees would take the time to make the trip.

Given a choice between the SEC and Bill Walton's "Conference of Chumpions" ( 1- 8 during the bowl season) I can way better handle any fully justified braggin' the South wants to send my way - plus their cheer section gals are a helluva lot prettier.

Going to an SEC game feels a lot like going to a Griz game, just on a bigger scale. The way college football is cherished in the South feels a lot like the way it is cherished in Montana. The two areas are a lot more similar than most realize.

Especially if you know Montana history. Rankin Smith, then Taylor Rankin Smith owned the Falcons. Janette taught at UGA between her terms as Montana's Representative and lived in Cartersville. The Four Georgians. John Bozeman. Couple more from the Peach State made their fortune in the Treasure State.

Now, let's see if the new coach can get a couple of their baby buffalo to come out here...

I really appreciate the respect for the game down there! The rivalries are just that and they by and large have a tremendous amount of respect for their rivals. Very civil fans to their visitors.

Can't argue there about "misplaced" values, but if you have ever been to a Gamecock's game, or a game at Clemson, you will understand. Football is everything here. EVERYTHING! Followed by women's basketball, and it's gaining. These programs are building facilities for med schools across the state, and breed loyalty among the high school kids. I watched Dutch Fork High School and trust me, these were not average high school players but I suspect their reading abilities were not well developed and that is sad. But, in low tax states like SC and MT you have to expect that.

I love SEC football. High quality, fierce competition, and nice traditions. As others have said, it is taken very seriously by those fans. I also like how Southern women tend to know a lot about football and many take it just as seriously as the men.

Games in Athens are great, as Tip said. Athens is a bit like Missoula, but the huge crowd, stadium and traditions like the Dawg Walk make games very special. When the white bulldogs, all named Uga, die. They are buried in a masoleum which is part of the stadium. There's a plague for each, and their game record while they were alive are posted. See below. My son and I were at a game a few days after an Uga died in 2008. Everyone was talking about it and sad.

I just returned from the Rose Bowl tonight. That game was special too. Our tickets, which we got for face value from a client whose wife is on the Rose Bowl committee, were selling for $900 on Stub Hub when we got them. My son checked again a few days before the game, and tickets 40 rows above us in our section were selling for $2,000.

My friend is a former Georgia player from the late 60's, Happy Dicks. We were with him and his wife at a hotel yesterday in Santa Monica, and younger 40 or so year old fans were coming up to him asking for photos with him. He was a great player, became a neuro-surgeon and the team doctor, and still lives in Athens. Check out this old sports headline:

Records for each mascot Dog W L T Pct
Uga I 53 48 6 .523
Uga II 42 16 3 .713
Uga III 71 32 2 .684
Uga IV 77 24 4 .731
Uga V 65 39 1 .624
Uga VI 87 27 0 .763
Uga VII 16 7 0 .696
Uga VIII 4 2 0 .667
Uga IX 44 19 0 .698
Uga X 24 6 0 .800

I'll never forget that night at the Mo Club when Happy Dicks got into it with Rusty Cox. The Missioulian dubbed it the Dicks-Cox affair.

In the state of Texas, if you are in the top 10% of your school by GPA, you get free tuition in Texas for 4 years of school.
