Tink's Replacement: Travis DeCuire???

what are the chances of hiring Rupp. I think he would be a great fit.

IMO we need a young, up and coming head coach. Nothing against Rupp but he would not be my choice.

Wonder if Blaine Taylor has inquired about the position yet? :?

I am a Blaine Taylor fan but do not see this as a possibility. I think that ship left the harbor in the '90s.

Would think the head job at UM would be very appealing to TDC for many reasons:
-He currently doesn't have a job, and getting late in the year to get on a staff at a larger school.
-After being a finalist at both CAL and OSU but falling short, probably understands that he needs head coaching experience to move up the ladder.
-The last two UM coaches are now coaching in the PAC-12, so clearly he will be able to move up if he does well.

I sure hope Haslem reaches out to TDC to gauge his interest. He should be the first choice and then go from there. Looks like a great fit in so many areas, assuming TDC wants the job.

Rupp is rumored to be going to OSU with Tinks. Travis wants this job. Hopefully they don't screw around with the "committee" bullshit and piss off every booster on the committee who doesn't get his pick. Just pick Travis and lets play ball. Jono isn't quite ready in my opinion, but he would be a great pick too.

Is it me, DeCuire is almost too good of a fit? It is obvious he is very highly thought of to be in heavy consideration for Cal and Oregon State. He is young and ambitious. With him narrowly missing out on these jobs, he has to know he needs to prove himself as a head coach at a small to mid major school. He is an alumni, very respected and highly thought of. He is the prototype candidate the U of M looks for in their coach. This position is a 5 to 7 year job to build your resume and move on. This would also be a pay raise for him.

I do not know him personally. How likely would it be to keep all our remaining players and commits? He definitely has learned from 2 very good to great coaches in Taylor and Montgomery.

I honestly don't see anything that would prevent Travis from being our new coach. Well except the bonehead with the initials of R E

I would think with his recent experience, he could recruit the areas that Montana could be successful in. Sounds like a great fit

It wouldn't be much of pay raise. He was making around $170k his last year at Cal. That said, he still needs a job and the opportunity to prove himself at the helm of a D1 program. Haslam better not blow this.

I am more concerned about Engstrom's input than Haslam's.

Sad but true...
