heh, heh! heresy, you say. okay.

but in less than two months tinks has done two things krysko couldn't--defeat boise state, and defeat portland state in portland.

and one thing that not only krysko never did, but no other coach in the history of the school could do either--beat a big ten team.

i say, he's just getting warmed up.

I was wondering when someone was going to take that angle. I am kinda surprised it was you city. Hell of a game by the LG again tonight, Morales is making that team so much better, and not a Sr starter.

I have a feeling that this could be construed as a tongue in cheek back handed compliment which I have no problem with Citay. The facts are as you stated. It is what it is. I enjoy your ribald gestures.

just the facts, ma'm.
Who has Minnesota beat? And how many Big Ten teams did Krysko coach against. I think it is clear right now that Tinkle is no where near the coach Krysko was. However, I am not saying that he can't be by any means. Krysko led Semi Pro teams to championships as well as the Griz to a NCAA tourney win. In my opinion they are in two different leagues as coaches. I do hope that Wayne stays here for many years and can teach/coach at a level that will bring us respect and wins. I would much rather have a coach like Larry or Wayne than Pat on the floor at Dahlberg Arena.

big,

What semi pro titles did LK win? I thought he finished second with his Idaho team. I am pretty sure he only coahced 1 year of CBA, although he played some of it.

I may have been over zealous with my post. I thought he won the title in Boise. To my knowledge though, I was not aware of him playing while he was coaching. He coached in Missoula with Holst and then went down to Boise and coached as well as played?

It was Tinks that played CBA, my mistake on that. LK coached just one season and took his team to the Chamionship game where they got beat.

My vote goes to Krysko. With the team we had coming in this year, to be 7-9 is terrible. I like Tinkle and hope he gets it turned around, but as of right now I'm not real impressed.

I am trying so hard not to be upset with tinkle. If I have to stumble out of dahlberg after a loss next weekend. There is going to be a tirade laced with profanities and the name 'wayne tinkle.'

Agreed.

Tinkle is a very good coach who has only 15 or so games under his belt as a head coach. Larry K. far more experience to pull from and can match Tinkle in every other aspect of the game as a coach, so yes Larry K. would have to be considered the better coach, but potetential is also something to be considered! Everyone I have talked to around the Big Sky and other places thinks Montana made an excellent choice in picking Tinkle for the job. I have yet to hear even a peep of criticism about Tinkle. You guy's need to relax a little and let him do his job. Yea maybe he will stumble here and there, but give him time, he will be a Stew Morrill type coach I guarantee you.

BTW: Tinkle inherited a very good team, but not a Great team like Bobby Hauck did, or a rebuilding job like Huse did. Bobby inherited so much talent, and program so deep in tradition, that his bumps, his first few years could be glossed over a little. Brad Huse has no expectations except his own forced upon him. Tinkle has very little room for error without facing the wrath of fans expectations.

Excellant point mslacat - I think Wayne will do an oustanding job but we as griz supporters need to give him and the team a chance to jell. I am also a Huse fan I think the rebuilding job he is doing at MSU is going to pay off in the next 3 to 4 years.

I, on the other hand, hope he and the rest of the Cats lose every game.

Minnesota beat Purdue in their Big 10 opener.

Just the facts, ok. That was a weak Big Ten team (Minnesota). Minnesota lost to: Winona State (huh?), Marist and Arkansas-Little Rock. Minnesota is currently 7-9, and 3 of those wins came against Long Island (who?), and the two state schools from N and S Dakota (NDSU and SDSU).

The reason they beat Purdue by six was because they went 8-10 from three point range (an amazing 80%).

Minnesota went on to lose their next Big Ten game to Wisconsin by 23 points...
