Tinkle's comments on DeShields & Emerson leaving.

Wonder what happened to make DeShields leave. That's going to leave us with only 1 player who started 20 games or more the previous season on the roster, and a huge hole to fill. Dunn started 16, and Weisner (if he stays) started 15 it looks like.

Here's the article:

From the article (when talking about DeShields) Tinkle says:

“It’s a tough situation, because Keron is a kid I’m very close to,” said Tinkle. “As a head coach, your job is to put guys in a position where they are going to have the chance to succeed."

Then later...

“The great part about him going to a Division I school and redshirting means he’s guaranteed to get his degree, which is priority No. 1 for him and for us.”

Doesn't sound like it was grades then if he's looking good to get his degree. For those in the know... wtf happened?

It sounds to me Deshields is free to search for schools. He likely has some offers closer to home. He just needs to decide which school/program will be best for him. Knowing how close Wayne and Keron are, I am guessing there are some family/personal issues the public will never know. Maybe some people close to him are going through some tough times with health, or other things?

If he chooses a Northeast or Mid Atlantic school that will be sign he needs to be closer to home for whatever reasons.

If my memory serves me correctly, Keron's dad is in jail and may be getting out soon??? I wonder if he wants to be closer to home if that is true. But again I could be completely making that up.

The home thing doesn't make any sense from what has been said in the past. He always stated he came out here to get away from his home (or the east coast area.) Though if a relative is sick I can see the change in heart.

People have a change of heart. He likely has matured a lot away from home and now can handle being closer to home. Only he knows. I hate to see him go, but wish him my best.
