Tinkle sets up two Visits.....

She seems to be the kind of person who won't need any extra "help" by having a Stanford or Duke on her resume. Wherever she decides to go to school and play, she will succeed in life after college and after basketball IMO. Whatever her choice, I'm sure she already understands that when it's all said and done, nothing is more important than family.

Here is my thinking. Although an alum of the U, I would probably be a little disappointed if my daughter chose Missoula over Stanford or Duke. Basketball is 4 years and the WNBA is really not much of a league. A Stanford or Duke on the resume goes a long ways toward what she is going to do for the rest of her life. We really are at a disadvantage in this process. I would be disappointed if she chose a Georgia or something like that, because a state school is a state school, but an prestigious school can really open doors for you.

so can a degree from the university of montana! i got into a prestigious eastern school because a montana alum two years earlier had been number one in the class, and i got a job offer from time magazine in new york on the strength of a family friend from helena. i later got another job on the west coast through a classmate from montana. my montana pedigree has been a passport to great opportunities and wonderful people throughout the world, and i wouldn't for one second trade it for my second "prestigious" degree from an ivy league school.

I hired a 4.0 EE from Purdue who was a huge disappointment. I had a Harvard MBA asking me business questions (and I sure don't have anything resembling an MBA). I hired a B student from UNLV because he was highly motivated and on the ball. He turned out to do extremely well. I hired a scretary on the spot without consulting any of the people she was to support. A few years ago she got her MBA by going to night school and weekends. She is now in a very responsible position having up to the time I hired her only working as a clerk at K-Mart as her most significant accomplishment.

Sure you can put a lot of stock in a resume, and many people do, but I learned long ago that you are hiring a person not a sheepskin. If JT is on the ball (pun intended) then she will do well no matter which school she attends.

Graduating with a 4.0 (undergrad) from UM with good test scores will basically get that
student into any grad school of their choice. If prestige is a factor that employers
look at it, it would be in regards to the graduate school attended.

Jos is going to go to Georgia for her visit next weekend. Will be there for the Georgia - Tennessee football game.

Stanford, three others in running for Tinkle's final two visits

Joslyn Tinkle, the No. 10 prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, just completed a visit to Georgia and her father says Stanford and three other schools remain in the running for future visits.

The 6-foot-3 post from Big Sky High School was accompanied on her Georgia visit by her father, Wayne Tinkle, the head men's basketball coach at Montana. Joslyn Tinkle previously visited Oklahoma and has a visit scheduled to Texas, Oct. 31 to Nov. 1, her father said.

Tinkle also has an official visit tentatively scheduled to Stanford for the weekend of Oct. 25-26. The visit is contingent upon Tinkle being admitted to the school. She submitted an application about a week ago, her father said. Duke, Montana and Notre Dame are in the running for Tinkle's fifth official visit, he added.

"Jos is going down to the wire with her visits because of her commitment to the [Big Sky] volleyball team," Wayne Tinkle said. "She realizes the timing might cost her an opportunity at one or two
