Tinkle articles and news

I just found new articles on SI.com and Fox about Wayne's taking the OSU job. Feel free to add to this thread as more articles, blogs, news, etc happen in Wayne's career at OSU. Any updates on Tres would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for the links, mtgrizrule. I had read the SI article & liked it, but found it to be one of the most thorough of the "introducing WT to OSU" articles.

Odd to me in all of the lists of Montana's coaching lineage, that Blaine Taylor is frequently omitted... and that Stew Morrill almost never mentioned. Add those two & the Montana coaching heritage is pretty impressive on the national coaching stage!

I am hoping for some info regarding assistant coach hires at Oregon State. This may at least give us a clue as to who some of the Griz head coach candidates will be. Also, we will hopefully get some updates from the Griz AD regarding what is going on in the recruitment/hiring process.

Owens and Rupp are 2 of his assistants already mentioned. I am not sure if either will interview for the head coach job at Montana.

Kerry Rupp appears headed to OSU, based upon a quote in Bob Meseroll's interview with Tinkle earlier this week in the Missoulian:

{Tinkle said he’s not officially reached any decisions about his new staff, although Rupp was in Corvallis for Wednesday’s news conference. "Kerry has kind of become my right-hand man a little bit and we hope to make it work, but there are all the (human resources) hoops to jump through," Tinkle said.}

Incoming coaches usually hire one coach from the previous staff for program continuity. That coach would seem likely to be Owens, though Tinkle did NOT mention Freddie by name. Further down in Meseroll's story, Tinkle was quoted again: “One thing that’s going to be difficult through all this is that I have a lot of guys to try to take care of, and I can’t get lost in that. I have to do what’s best for the program here at Oregon State."

Another good piece from today's Missoulian was a column in the Sunday edition, written by Bill Speltz who explains why he thinks Tinkle has a daunting task ahead of him, as also noted by Citay and GrizLA in another new thread on eGriz called: "statisctical truths."

Here's the link to Speltz's column:
