Play for next year - If you have been going to the games this year is not going to get any better.

I agree a good big man would have changed the season - Martin is not the future, wish he was

I am most worried about how much fan support the team will get, I hope there are some exciting things in the off season

The cupboards look kinda bare

I really felt the program was building towards the end of last season and I would like to see that continue some how

The cupboards look kinda bare

:o

Whhhhatttt?

The team only has one senior who contributes. They have two of the most well-regarded recruits in history playing as true freshman. They have Bruning coming in to shore up the middle.

Obviously you have never played the game...

Obviously, I did. That's why I support the team, look on the bright side, look for ways to comeback and win, and never give up. How many sports did you play in college? I played 2.

What two sports did you play? Takes a lot to do one sport, let alone two.

Football and lacrosse (and then rugby after I "retired" from lacrosse).

So obviously you "Have never played the game"

...having this bad season...
...mite slow down tinkles exit...
...and that could be the up-side...

... 8-) ...

It's way too early to start planning for next year by giving up on this year. There are way too many games left and every one of the 4 losses were winnable games. Now maybe SUU might start thinking about next year but it's crazy for any UM coaches, players, fans or egrizers to start thinking like that.

Just like I said in a prior post...UM wins and all is grand...UM loses and the sky is falling in!!

I think a lot of you are pretty spoiled and unrealistic because of the last two 19-1 seasons. There are a lot of games left and this team has enough talent to still make a run, even with the problems it has.
It is entirely true that UM fans and alumni expect more from their teams than we have seen recently. We have strong traditions, even if they include unrealistic expectations. But, the problem, per se, is NOT only is UM playing badly inconsistent ball but they are now in the lower tier of a conference that has an RPI of 27 and falling. It is hard to turn around such a fall in a short time. This is the year to just let the underclassmen develop the game that fits them and do all possible to allow Jamar to achieve what he is very capable of doing. UM should not be satisfied with mediocrity, or is that the new norm? I hope not.

I went to UM when we made those "strong traditions" and basketball was king. Sadly, without revisionist history, an examination of that time would reveal we rarely won the Big Sky, almost never made the dance, and NEVER won a NCAA tournament game until Krysko came back as a coach. So, to put it clearly, you are full of crap as usual.

We beat Utah State with Heathcoat as coach, with Eric Hayes and Big Mac. So you are wrong, and therefore must be the one full of crap.

You must not have read the earlier parts of this thread. We were talking about AFTER that one game. GrizLA said we have embraced mediocrity now. One win in 1975 could not be the "strong tradition" he/she was referring to, because one win is not a tradition. The strong tradition was during the 70's to early 90's and my post refers to that time period. You are mistaken, but not full of crap. ;)

Sorry, after rereading I understand your point and stand corrected. But for me, who grew up in Missoula and went to the U , and suffered thru the Cox/Nord/Rock/Cope debacles, Heathcoat was the game-changer, and winning tradition started with Jud.

Dahlberg is a memorial to a great UM coach. And,Montana's traditions are known to all of us.

Not at a "high enough" level obviously. So that begs the question, why the hell is he posting opinions about basketball? He's made it perfectly clear in the football forum that posts from posters that haven't "played the game at a high level" hold far less weight than post from posters that have...

Not sure it is a wise career move for a coach to play for "next season" based on recruiting, potential jobs fall-out, and paying ticket holders, to say the least.
