Time for the Adam Carolla goal post rule in the NCAA

Effective this year the NFL has extended the height of goal posts five feet to help 65-year-old referees with cataracts and vertigo make field goal calls while looking straight up into commercial strength fluorescent lighting.

It looked to me like Sullivans first field goal attempt sailed over the top of the goal posts making it tough to call good or bad. After the questionable call on the missed field goal, I can't help but wonder if an extra five feet of height on the goal posts would have aided the referees in making the call.

What do you guys think? Time to adopt the NFL's Adam Carolla rule?

From the replay I saw the fg was good - the one ref clearly lost sight of the ball cause he asked the other ref if he saw it, shook his head cause he didn't so the had to call it a miss though it was pretty clearly good. Extra height on t he goal post won't help if the official loses sight of the ball. Looked like on the game Winner the Griz had a couple people down there to watch more closely.

It'll be interesting to see if the coaches game film from the endzones show if that kick was good or not. The goalposts there were extremely short.

I would love to see the option to challenge calls. I know not all have the cameras to pull it off, but I think the CAA and MVFC both went to the if applicable application of replay.

If we're going with the Carolla rule, I think we should improve on it. Put 1 yard wide screens (like those in baseball stadiums to mark the line) on each upright and if you hit a plain field goal, you get 1 point, but if you hit one of the screens, you get 4 points. More risk/reward that way.

The refs look an each other on every FG, one looks to the other to confirm that they are both making the same call before giving the signal, the shake of the head "no" means that the ref called it no good, not that he didn't see it.

Not saying that it was in or out just that what you described the refs doing would be standard actions for any missed FG.

I have heard that the Big Sky will have replay next year wherever video is available, haven't seen it officially confirmed yet though.

My question is why isn't there a referee standing behind the kick to have a straight-line view of the kick, just as another option to verify whether or not a kick is good?
