24 penalties so far...
And not the usual/expected first-game False Starts and the like ... lots of Personal Fouls and Unsportsmanlike calls. Well over 200 penalty yards :o .

One of the commentators:

"NC A&T's young Offensive Line is really struggling. With 4 new starters, it is very hard to prepare for game speed. With limited padded practices in fall camps now, these young guys just couldn't get the reps to learn to work as a cohesive unit."

I sure hope we see Jacksonville st. In the playoffs this year. They looked so bad I think even the cats could beat them.

Fake news, nothing to see here. There will be no learning curve or ramp up time for the griz O line.
They will instantly be dominant with 4 or 5 new starters because Bobby's back.

And still you have to wake up as a cat fan in the morning...

The O-line will have tight ends and a full back to help this season. They will also have a very mobile quarterback to help with the youth at that position if it breaks down. I won't even get into the best wide receiving corps in the Big Sky. If you don't think coach Hauck's return is a big deal you must be a cat fan.

JSU isn’t going to be relevant again until they play Kennibunkport state late in the season.
True in one sense ... the OVC hasn't won a playoff game since 2015, so the conference is not especially relevant in the FCS.

Otherwise, not so bad. As one article points out: "Saturday's loss for Jacksonville State was the first regular season FCS loss for the Gamecocks in two years." And their conference winning streak goes back to November of 2013. Plus, JSU played like s**t – with 4 turnovers and almost 150 yards of penalties – and still only lost by a field goal. BTW, they actually out-gained A&T by a bunch ... 403 yards to 148.

The Gamecocks will probably drop to around #11-14 in the next poll (from #6 in the pre-season poll). But unless the rest of the OVC teams are dramatically better than they've been for the past four or five years, JSU will go on another tear and be ranked in the top-10 (and maybe the top-5) by mid-season.

Yup. JSU's d-line did look pretty good. Unbelievable amount of penalties

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz......Yaaaawwwwwn..... Ok, I'll say it one more time. I'm on the record many, many times declaring that Bobby Hauck was a good hire for um and he likely WILL get the griz back to being competitive in the Big Sky and possible at the national level. Enough to win a national championship? Who knows, that's a tall order to take over today's elite FCS teams. All that aside, um is not getting back to the top overnight. It will take some time, probably 2-3 years.

I think most GRIZ fans would agree, it probably will take 2-3 years to reach national prominence, however you are kidding yourself if you think we are not contenders for BSC championship.

That depends on what you mean by "contenders". Yes, it's possible um wins the Big Sky in 2018 but extremely unlikely. Most likely you'll end up 5-3 conf. 4-4 possible as is 6-2 but 6-2 would be a tall order.

If I remember right Wyoming started 4 redshirt freshman on the OL. They seem to have done pretty good yesterday. Looked like a pretty good team.

JSU has unbelievable physical talent....their team discipline is keeping them from being a FCS front runner. I really don't see it changing enough to make a run.

This team will be fighting for a playoff spot THIS year.
