MISSOULA - Police say they have arrested the men who are accused of attacking a Missoula gas station clerk with baseball bats during a Tuesday morning robbery.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Jay's Mart on South Reserve and 39th Street, and five men were involved in the robbery.

Police say four of them entered the store wearing dark clothing with hoods pulled up, and two of them had aluminum baseball bats.

The attackers damaged some items, beat the clerk with bats, and then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detectives interviewed the five men on Wednesday night at the police department, and arrested them on several charges, including robbery and assault with a weapon.

Investigators believe a sixth man is also involved in the crime, but that person is still at large.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

I did a quick search through the roster, there are 3 others in on the same charges with the same booking date - no recognizable names, not even sure if they're UM students. May or may not be connected, however it seems like they'd all be linked together, same charges, same date, same arresting officer even I believe.

Nope me neither. I would HOPE that as these young men currently on the Grizzly Football team have the smarts to stop and think, "maybe I shouldn't go rob a grocery store with a baseball bat."

One would think that's probably the normal thought process for most people anyways... however in light of what we've seen over the last few years.... :?

ha, no I don't (although you can subscribe to an RSS feed). I got a text from a friend who heard about it and unfortunately over the last few years my way to confirm this stuff has been to do just that.

I'm also an advisor for a student group on campus, so any any given time I'm the "senior" advisor for a group of 30-40 young men attending the UM... keeps me on my toes as I worry about these guys. Fortunately... no issues there (knock on wood).

Watching the video is disturbing, makes one feel little sympathy for those who committed this crime, if it is these guys or any others. I hope they get what's coming to them.

Just watched the video and it's sickening. Hopefully they are put away for a long time, and come out of it better people. Unbelievable how guys like that get the type of support from the community that they do as student athletes, and turn around and do things like this. Sad situation.
