CDA is batting about .600 tonight.

Perfect, if you're over 50. If you're under 50, you should go a different route from head to toe:

Griz Tix will not get any tickets to sell. Go to tickets west at 11a.m. on Tuesday.
Really, the Washington family isn't the only major benefactor. Are all the others anonymous? Might as well just call it Washington stadium. I have never heard of Washington state taxpayers subsidizing 70% of EWU football. EWU has to compete with Pac12 research institutions for $, a reality that UM and MSU do not face.CDAGRIZ said:GoldenEagle said:CDAGRIZ said:GoldenEagle said:Just admit that the griz would be knocking on DII if it weren't for ONE wealthy family bank rolling the infrastructure. I don't think we would be DII, but are you saying college football powerhouses would not be powerhouses without the help of wealthy private donors? Holy shit, this is mind-blowing!
I never referred to the griz as a powerhouse. In fact, these days the griz rarely beat .500 teams. Maybe the Washington family should reconsider where their CHARITY goes to. :thumb:
OK. Cool. They aren't exactly "reconsidering" at the moment. And they aren't the only major benefactors by a long shot. Another benefit of playing the long game (The 15 Rules). I bet the taxpayers of Washington wish they could reconsider the fact that they subsidize the EWU football charity at about a 70% clip, but they really don't have a quick and effective way to pull funding.

In review;
1) UM football is the only game in town and does not have to compete for fans.
2) UM football is largely subsidized by a single charitable source.
3) UM can not beat D1 teams with records above .500
4) UM can not beat EWU.
5) UM will get 500 tickets for the EWU game and none are available to average fans.
6) All of the above define UM as an "Elite" program.
Have I missed anything?

I thought you stated that this was a ticket thread, and that no other dicussion should occur outside of that topic.

Don't forget the extra 7 million people to spread around in Washington.

GoldenEagle said:signedbewildered said:rogermp said:TheBud said:So, are you saying that the UofM should not cater to those most supportive of the program? What if you were one of them, how would you feel about getting a shot at those 500?
Frankly, I would like to get 5 of the 500 too, but if I don't, I will be disappointed, but I will also understand. I will give it my best shot on Tuesday morning. Hopefully, there will be enough GA tickets for all of us that want to go.
Just saying it would be nice to leave some tickets (maybe 250-300) for the average fans instead of just making them available only to those people with deep pockets.
What the WTF? Apply for a hardship or assistance of some sort. I wonder what the max income is to qualify for subsidized playoff tickets?
I think rogermp has a point. An "elite" program should provide tickets to the average fan that just wants to see a good football game. Sadly my alma mater is a far cry from the "grass roots" football program I enjoyed in the early to mid 90s. Seems like UM is far more favorable to deep pockets than the common fan. I guess infrastructure is far more important than actually catering to deserving fans. At some point (maybe UM is already there from this last weekends attendance numbers) that wonderful stadium will be half full of a lot less "loud" fans.
