Hey UM, How's the first loss at home feel
Oh and guess what your coming to Ogden
Big Sky Champs right here!!!

not sure why you are happy. you guys play alot better on the road then in you house. i think this is good for us

Weber was very good and played very well. With the way the Griz played, they weren't going to beat Weber tonight. I'm hopeful for the Big Sky tourney, tho, as Weber is not unbeatable.

Tinkle wasn't outcoached in any respect. Anyone who thinks that doesn't have a clue.

Weber was hard to defend. The big guys were terrific in the paint, and made alot of fairly tough shots (but consistently made them). Some were very quick to the basket. They shot well from outside most of the time, including some long and defended 3's.

I love the Griz team. I love and support the players, but I'm going to be a bit uncharacteristic tonight. No offense is intended for my being more frank than usual.

AJ was good, but he pressed too many times and got too many bad results. He started this early in the game. Later in the game, when the game's on the line, I understand. He can't do it all by himself. He wasn't on as much as usual either. He needed to give it up a half dozen more times.

Staudacher shot very poorly (0-6). Missed open looks, and then took some shots where his position, jump and stroke looked off. None were bad shots, tho. In the first half, he had a bad streak of not defending well enough. Was better defending in the second half. Weber was quick and athletic.

Sharp was okay, but seemed to get pushed out of position too often and was defended well.

Hasquett played fine, but was defended hard and up close. Couldn't get close to the basket; couldn't do enough of his thing. We didn't get enough production from him.

McGillis was good and aggressive. Defended the small guard (McCoy) alot in the first half. Scored some points. Didn't seem to play as much in the second half. Had the best shot block I've seen in the arena in recent history. Knocked it into the 8th row of the seats from the key.

Michael Taylor had a good game. He's a smart and good player. He deserves more playing time.

Qvale played well on offense and defense at times, and rebounded well, and then didn't look as good at other times. Had some nice buckets and nice offensive rebounds. He let the Weber guys push him too close to the bucket too many times.

CET played very well. He needs more minutes. 7 rebounds in 18 minutes. Took it to the hoop nicely a couple times. Defended well.

McCoy didn't show much today. Lillard is very athletic and good. The Weber big guys played very well and/or are very good.

UM was 4-17 from 3-point range. Weber was 7-17, and had a better percentage earlier. Had UM shot 7-17, it would have been a 2-point game.

Not many assists for either team, 8 each I believe. UM got rebounded early, but ended up about even.

Weber shot 47% from the field; UM 37%.

Refs missed a bunch of calls. One ref was hurt early, and left the game. I think the refs were thrown off their game by having only 2 refs. They weren't looking too many times, and missed obvious calls. Tinkle really expressed displeasure at one ref later in the game, after M. Taylor was knocked 10 feet out of the play on a rebound he was already up in the air for and going to get.

It was fun to see the football team introduced before the game.

The Griz need to take care of business and retain the second seed. I'm hopeful for the Big Sky tourney, but a win tonight would have been much nicer.

Come on man, if your going to post, do it with a little more class.

Montana is a better team than what they showed tonight, They had a off night.

I dont think this Montana team can go into Ogden and win, but you never know.

I wish WSU didn't have to play UM or PSU in the conf tourney...

Interesting that WSU is 7-0 on the road, thats got to be close to a Big Sky record.
1-1 with the home shoes, 11-0 with the road shoes (I hope the road shoes aren't worn out yet!)

Like I said before you can't really stop AJ...just gotta try and stop the others. Guess we'll see ya in a few weeks.

BTW, will Hasquet finally be graduating? I swear he's been a starter at UM for like 6-7 years!

If we win at MSU, we will be the only team to ever go 8-0 on the road.

We wnet 7-0 on the road in the 2003 season.

Nice vocal crowd tonight. I don't think anybody could have beaten Weber, but particularly in the first half the Griz looked to be running some kind of ineffective rotating man to man that was consistently leaving long ball shooters free for uncontested shots. Agreed, AJ was trying to to do too much with the ball, probably out of a sense of frustration in wanting to turn things around. Man, the Griz clanged a whole bunch of errant shots off the iron. I must disagree with montanagrizrule however, regarding Quale. He showed some strong moves on the offensive board, but frankly he was too slow and unathletic to provide any real challenge against Wildcat shots underneath. Their big guys ate his lunch. Not a totally bad effort, but WSU is clearly the class of the BSC. They could surprise in the first ,and maybe the second round of the NCAA

My take on last nights game...simple...the best team won the game. Weber was clearly more athletic at nearly every position, especially in the paint. Lilliard is big time cool for a freshman. Weber got into our guys bodies on D, bumped them each possession, disrupting any chance for the Griz to get into any rhythm. Griz were not nearly as aggressive on D this game. There were some ticky tack calls on them early, maybe they let that affect them. Weber executed very well and deserved to win. It is eeasy to see why they are 11-1 in league.

Griz still are well positioned to finish second and earn the bye. If you look at the BSC history since this format was instituted, seldom does a team win the tourney having to play 3 games. Odds on favorite is Weber, but they are not unbeatable.

Weber's "D" did to us what we've been doing to teams the last month. They are solid, very solid. With that said, I don't think they're unbeatable. I hope our guys want another shot at 'em.

Internet was acting goofy last night, many of my thoughts have also been posted already:

- Congrats Weber, looks like hosting is yours, and rightfully so. The Wildcats played a great game last night, and I think the one thing that really seperated the two teams was consistancey. Weber never went through any major cold streaks, while the Griz did late in the 1st period, then with about 10:00 left, and again with about 4:00 left. Griz would heat up, then cool down - meanwhile Weber just chipped away steadily, and that got them the big lead.

- In watching most Griz games this year, I did see something of concern, that the team/coaches will presumably pick up on as well - with about 10:00 left in the game, suddenly it seemed like the Griz went to panic mode, casting off a bunch of shots (not many made), not sticking to their game plan, and that allowed Weber to build in a lead that the Griz couldn't overcome.

- AJ is amazing, but one guy cannot beat Weber, the hustle from the Griz didn't quit all night though. Bummer of a game for Hasquet, I was talking with another guy saying we need a big game from someone besides AJ to win, and unfortunately some guys didn't get enough bounces, and some guys were just stone cold.

- The more Michael Taylor gets comfortable in his role, the more I'm liking his style of play, real hard worker and a very good 3-point shooter. Good on defense too.

- CET should be starting at PG, IMO. Nothing against AJ, but I think the team is better with both of those guys on the court. Put CET at 1, AJ at 2.

- The officiating last night seemed to give Weber the benefit of the doubt, multiple out-of-bounds plays called the wrong way, a blatant travel that turned into a Griz foul, and then in the end when the Griz were back within 11, on a free throw attempt a Griz rebounder (I think Taylor) gets tackled down to the floor by a Weber player, causing him to miss the rebound, Weber gets it, and the game is essentially over. Tinks ripped of his tie and threw it on the floor after that non-call.

- Weber's combo of their two guards and their physical big guys underneath is an amazing group.

While last night Weber St was the better team, I was not blown away by their overall athleticism, and I do think if the Griz can learn from this loss, they stand a good chance to beat Weber in Ogden (hopefully they get to that point!). The Griz need to get back up, and prepare for ISU in a very critical game now.

Lets Go Griz!!

I have watched EVERY game and I haven't seen this "panic mode" in the last month and a half. Why on earth is a guy watching on the net when he lives in Missoula anyway? WTF, is RE so bad you can't afford $6 to support the team in the biggest game of the year thus far? PM me your address, I will buy you a damn ticket next time.

I am betting it has something to do with young kids, etc. I would love to go to all the home games. However, fitting them in to the kids' schedules is almost impossible. Things are different from when I was a kid.

Geez, GB1. Calm down. ReMax WAS at the game, and even posted from there earlier in the thread. He simply meant he was unable to post his post-game thoughts last night because of the funky computer situation.

Well, for shit sakes dude? Just bow your heads down and admit defeat. YOU LOST!! We'll see you in God's country! Ogden, Utah baby! We actually welcome our guests to our city unlike you white trash losers! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! J/K    But seriously, we'll see you when you get here.

I'd say the best part of the game is when that "FAT" guy was shooting during a time out in the first half. I was watching the game on a projector screen with 70 purple pak members and we all were cheering him on. We were going nuts when he won!!! Yee uh, Yee uh, Yeeuh!!

Chill out GB1.

- Full time job
- 3/4 time student (so my tickets are free - no need to send $$)
- Pres-elect of my trade assc
- Two kids, one that probably couldn't do the drop-in day care at the game

It's tough to get to games, I've been to 4 mens and 3 womens so far this year, I've done my best to catch the rest on BigSkyTV.org when I can.

He won too, I think, made 3 crazy one-handed shots in a row.

Ahhh, so you must be the one guy in Utah who drinks a lot!

You are right about our team, it all goes back to Coach Rahe. The team has bought into his gameplan, they don't quit, and they play together as a team. I have been to all the home games and I am amazed how every night it is a different player that carries the team, we don't have a superstar that the other team can key on. We played a tough non-conference schedule which I has definately helped us compete in the Big Sky, especially hostile enviroments like last nights game.

See you guys in the purple palace, good luck until then...
