Thoughts and Prayers...

Wow that's too bad. I assume he was in the stands when it happened? Any work on if he is ok at this point? That really sucks.
I guess you could say I was a "first responder". Without going into a lot of detail, he went from having no vitals when we first got to him to having a rhythm by the time they got him on the back board and ino the ambulance. That was promising.

Very encouraging news Dozy. And thanks for leaping into action. That's what true leaders do.

Continued prayers.

Thanks for the update. Hope it turns out well for him.

Good on you! Hoping this turns out well.

Prayers to Jake's dad and the family. Please do provide us updates here as EWU fans hear them. Hard to really talk about the game or trash talk after that happened. The players on each team looked pretty concerned. Quite a few players praying.

God speed Jake & family. Sporting events get quite tame when something of this nature appear. Me and my family are hoping and praying for the best possible outcome. Hang in there, come back to us.

At one point when espn cut to commercial you could see someone preforming CPR. Scary stuff. Saw a friend of the family posting on a Facebook link that his dad is stable and doing ok. I hope that's the truth!

Thanks Brint. I know I am not "supposed to" post over here. Not a lot said on our side. We all want everyone to be healthy. More fun that way. Very sad. Hope he is ok. Prayers to him and his family.

Very scary, hope he is doing okay. I too saw them working on him. Prayers for his family and his recovery are on the way.

Props and respect to the first responders and the crews that worked on this. Big love to his son and family. Prayers to all.

Nice, informative article: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/dec/14/john-blanchette-football-finishes-a-distant-second/

... Everything stopped.

Everything, of course, except the civilian Samaritans who were first to the fan’s side, and then the paramedics who worked with a fixed and fierce determination. And the prayers and tears and more prayers that always attend a private crisis in a public venue.
...
They watched as John Rodgers was loaded into the ambulance and Jake and other family members climbed in beside him. And before they resumed the business of football they kneeled for one more prayer, as the siren wailed away on Washington Street.

By mid-evening, word had come down that John Rodgers was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
...
There were many allowances afterward how the scary circumstances of the day’s end put the game of football in “perspective,” though frankly if we need such reminders our perspective is forever skewed. But surely everyone left Roos Field with a good thought for the Rodgers family, and not consumed by the disappointment – or in ISU’s case, the triumph – of the final score.

We wrote it down here somewhere. But it doesn’t seem to be that important now.
Not exactly sure when this was posted. I did see a tweet that he was "stable" as of about 11 hours ago, but no source was given.

Post from EWU forum.....

"Thank you to all Eagle Nation and also to the Illinois State players and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes to Jake and our family. Jake was very moved by the messages of support - we read them all while we waited during our long vigil in the ICU waiting room. Coach Baldwin & his wife stayed for many hours with us and their support meant so much to Jake and us.

Jake's dad is still critical in ICU - hopefully there will be improvement today. Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming."

excellent thread and I completely agree, this is one of those things that transcends sports. EverettGriz, a tip of the hat for a class act.
