Optimum is pissing me off.. assholes keep raising my cable bill for no reason. I think their cable is horribly overpriced for what you get. It'd cheaper to have DirecTV.

Whether you shop for a new provider, or stay with your current one, do your best to get a good rate deal before March of each year. March of each year is when the channels determine their rates to the providers. In turn, every spring is when the rates usually go up with providers. :thumb:

Are you a salesman??

I am, but no longer in that industry. I was in that industry for a few years. Rates usually go up sometime in the spring. Some cable companies will let you lock in your rates for 2 years, with some sort of small fee for canceling within that 2 years. Either way, the industry is not too kind to consumers looking for a good deal, no matter who you do business with.

Thank you for your replies everyone!

I originally started looking at Optimum (or whatever they're called this month) because they have the fastest internet available in our area & we stream most of our TV shows & movies via Netflix & Hulu Plus. The only reason I would be getting the cable is to watch the PAC12 Network, Root, Fox Sports, & ESPN.

DirecTV is the best television experience available. Optimum & Dish pale in comparison. Their hardware is by far superior. Their menu functionally and firmware design are far superior. DVR tech is far superior (The Genie). HD picture is superior with better compression methods.

Yes, they have HD locals, too.

I've tried them all and it's not even close.

I still get my Internet from optimum. Don't let them hype you into thinking you have to be part of some bundle to get a reasonable price.
