Did Jerry Rice's record include playoff games?
I would doubt it, Dickenson's passing didn't and that was 10 years after Rice was drafted.

thats what i was thinking, i do believe cooper could break jerry's record without playoff games given he stays for a fourth year.

I think he passed Jerry Rice, in total receptions, last Saturday...

I think he meant if playoffs stats did not count for Kupp since they were not used in Rice's total....

So that put him 6th(or 5th) on the list, not quite the big deal.

... Even though Kupp is a junior, he is 22 years old. Leaving a year early would still put him at 23 before he even has a chance to see the field for the NFL. That is by no means old, but an injury could really hurt him. I don't think he has a lot left to prove by staying for his last year; he is also married and no doubt thinking about future security. With as many NFL connections as he has in his family I'm sure he'll get the best advice . . . for him.
I totally agree that he has nothing left to prove.

A month or more ago, on another thread, an Eagle's poster said that Kupp had told his teammates at the start of this season that this would be his last year. And, given the chance of injury -- game or even practice -- he'd be nuts to not take his chances with the draft. Yes, if he stayed for his senior year, he'd be rank #15 among wide receivers (listed on several draft sites). Declaring early would lower that, but I've seen sites that still rate him around 40 among WR if he does. The way things go, that might put him in the 3rd round or so -- not bad for an FCS prospect.

Generally, by the time the 15th ranked WR is taken, it's been in the 4th round.
Really?! I don't follow the draft all that closely, but it seems like in the last one, the WR spots were gobbled up much faster than that. Interesting.

I don't know how much Kupp will be saying "This sucks!" considering he may very well be the offensive player of the year in FCS, despite his team's struggles.

.... and may become a wealthy young man by going to the NFL this spring. I know it would make a lot of Griz fans happy to see him leave early.

I, for one, do NOT want to see him leave early.
Wait.........Kupp still has another year???? He should be finishing up his doctoral thesis at this point

...or Taiwan Jones, who probably should have stayed in school.

I'd say Taiwan is doing just fine....

The Raiders signed Taiwan Jones to a three year contract extension worth $4,355,000 on February 24, 2014. Jones receives a $855,000 roster bonus and yearly workout bonuses of $50,000. Base salaries are $1,100,000 in each of the three extension years.

The Raiders never have been real good at making monetary decisions.. especially spending 4.3 million on a guy who over the course of four years has rushed for 187 yards, received 192 yards, and has a career long kick return of 46 yards as a rookie.

I love watching the raiders flounder.

Numbers guy here. I know the "careers" (wrong term, really) of most football players is pretty short. But -- unless you are a complete idiot about handling money -- it is not rocket science to set yourself up for life when you receive that kind of money. After the gov, Federal and state, takes its (huge) chunk, you still have around $2.5 million left. So you buy a nice house (not a mansion) for yourself and maybe for Mom ... and a fancy car. Interest rates are low, but most people would be tickled to live on what you could earn from what's left over. So, yah ... I'd say he was doing just fine.

You're right. The 2014 draft was richer with WR's. 15th ranked went in the 3rd.

*edit... I shouldn't be saying "ranked". I meant the 15th WR taken.
