I've perused a few FBS fan forums and, while I find egriz to occasionally be off its rocker, it's mostly reasonable compared to, say, an SEC board.

Growler is a piece of work but nothing in comparison to my all-time favorite wing nut - Lakesbison or whatever his name was. What goes on here could always be worse. The mods here do a good job of finding that happy medium between freedom of speech and harassment/threats.

A very reasoned response, Jack! The only thing I would change about eGriz is more cat GIFs. I'm looking at you Bear Axed!

Other than a few misguided trolls I tend to like everyone of you E-Grizers. Yes I even miss old AZ-Growler-Atlanta and Alpha has his moments. 75 is a great poster, some like to get in a word game with him and he out duels all of them. Even a few msu nuts like "catserback" are OK. Only one Griz poster I could do without...U know Who.
Meanwhile I will keep paying to post on Egriz.

The forums are much better without people like alpha and growler but there are still blatant trolls who ruin threads and derail conversation. The foe button is fine but when posters like alpha or growler constantly started/derailed every conversation, ignoring posts doesn't fix the issue.

I have an extremely hard time believing that permanently banning accounts who are clear trolls is difficult. I'm not sure how this forum is modded but the elimination of an account should be an easy thing to do.

Surprisingly, it's not. You can drop an IP ban, but there's multiple ways to get around that (ie: use your phone, at work, sometimes your IP at home doesn't stay the same, etc). And in some cases if you drop an IP ban it can have an unintended splash consequence.. like as I mentioned above, the IP that Brock Landers was posting from had two other eGrizzers (good posters) attached to it. Back when AOL was a thing Growler's IP address used to be attached to about 10 different eGrizzers (that weren't one of numbnuts' dozen accts) that were regular posters. You can perm ban an acct, but then you go out and register a new email address and new forum acct, and bam, back in business. Same with perm banning an email address.

It's tough to be real granular with the software the board provides. We've been able to head off some of people who are perm bans by approving their post first post (something we put in place about a year ago to head off spammers and perm bans) but that's not always fool proof either. Plus with that method it adds a lot of overhead for the mods to deal with but we still do it.

Obviously, it is not easy to keep someone out entirely. But, simply banning an account CANNOT be that difficult. I'm pretty familiar with software and I know it is simple. Now, clearly, keeping that person out is another level of commitment and takes a different strategy but honestly it does not take much to just understand who is trolling and just get them out. Straight up there is a blatant troll in this thread alone who has appeared in the past week or so. Why he isn't perma banned already is just mind numbing. I'm not asking for insane amount of board moderation but c'mon... it doesn't take a genius to sense the trolls like Growler, Alpha, this new Bison dude, etc.

Many on here are throwing out good comments and there have been a lot of good posters that rarely post here anymore. The problem as I see it, comes down to posters thinking they are great posters when they are simply a troll of another kind. Take posters like Player Rep, UM75, Eurial, and MTGrizrule. These are posters that post some of the most absurd things on here and add very little. I think they are joke accounts or they are doing it on purpose. All they do is attack other posters and nobody does anything about it. Do posters like Growler, Alpha and CDA make it hard to read this place? I would much rather read their schtic than the previous list. When Growler isn't posting attacks on people he offers good viewpoints and nobody can argue that Alpha doesn't know football, he is a very sharp guy. CDA is in a league of his own when it comes to defending the board from other teams trolls and the things he puts into his posts is artful to say the least. Some people do not like these three and I don't mind them it is the others that make me log off from time to time dud to their bullying attitudes. I do not post often but felt the need to balance the scales since the mods and a few of the problems seem to be trying to take over a site that needs balance. What do I know, I am just an old retired guy with too much time time on his hands, so I read eGriz, its addicting just like college football. :twocents:

I will be honest, I come on here because I enjoy it. It is way more fun and humorous than all the seriousness over on Bisonville. To be quite honest, that place is quite boring. All they do is talk football without all the back and forth banter. I like this site, there is a wide variety of topics being discussed on here, and I don't spend a lot of time reading some because it is more intense Griz talk. I like all the discussion of the other teams and reading your perspective on things. There is something here for everyone. If you want deep breakdown on the Griz, you can find it. If you want a good old fashion tear down of another program and a state's obesity problem, you can find that as well. Don't ever change egriz.

Either step up and enforce your own dam rules, or get out. Just let the rest of us know. Then we can find an alternative to discuss Griz football and not get involved with your friends' continual trolling and disruption of every thread.

Instead of doing ANYTHING about it, you accuse the recipient, thanks for the insult. Mtgrizrule is exactly right: the moderation on this forum is completely screwed up: backwards to what "moderation" ordinarily means. People are sick of it. Thanks for illuminating the point so succinctly. I couldn't have made the point better myself.

I see nearly every single one of your reported posts and just about every single time I can go back and see that you either instigated, or played just as active of a role in trolling as the person you're reporting. So.. I do nothing about it. I believe people have just as big of a problem with your dealing with users on this forum than they do with your counterpart, grizindabox. It would be easier just to ban both of you then most of these problems go away. Instead the mods have given you both lenience to continue mucking up these forums.
