Good article...again I just think when people are able to take a step back and look at what he has accomplished and implemented in only his second year after gutting and reorganizing our program....you cant help to be impressed and optimistic about our future..
No program in the country would judge a coach thats transitioning a complete overhaul of the system like Stitt is...

A simple playbook puts more pressure on execution. If you have a whole lot of different looks you might fool the other team a lot of the time but that is not the offense that Stitt wants. To be successful in his scheme the little things matter a lot, a LOT. Missed blocks, dropped passes, wrong routes (among other mistakes) are killers maybe more so than for other offensive schemes. I believe he can succeed with his vision but it requires superb discipline out of the athletes. Can college student part-time athletes deliver? Time will tell.
Fun fact: A study of Div 1 football showed that offenses scored 60% of the time on drives when they committed no penalties and only 20% of the time when they did. Just being clean on offense can make a big difference for any team.

And yet, and yet, where are the Griz now? 19th nationally? 8th BSC? The Griz racked up better stats than EWU, but still lost. So, what is the value of stats in football? Look, I'm not discounting Stitt as a coach; I think eventually, he will "Make [the Griz ] Great Again." But, I believe, at this point, the Kaimin article is marooned colored.
Lots of discussion about Offense and Defense. That's fine, but what about Special Teams?
I would suggest that the Head Coach has the responsibility for the entire team, which includes Special Teams.
I agree with many on the board that Bob Stitt will eventually return UM football to a strong national position and should be given our full support.

I understand that Stitt wants a simple spread playbook for the offense to be able to understand easily and execute, however when an offense is TOO simple, opposing defenses that are really good can easily make and execute their own defensive scheme strategy against it (e.g. NDSU against us in the playoffs after losing to us the first game of the season last year). They figured out our snap count (it was pretty simple), and we paid for it big time. I grew up watching Montana football as a pro style offense with some really amazing, big and fast power running backs like Yo Humphrey and Lex Hilliard, as well as some great possession WR's like Etu Molden. Also NDSU's offensive playbook seems to have A LOT of stuff in it. I seem them go Pro Style, as well as I see them occassionally go shotgun and spread the field. That's what makes them so dangerous for opposing defenses, their diverse playbook. Also this diverse playbook allows their own defense to practice against various offensive playbook schemes. So... while I am still a Stitt supporter and believer that he can make good things happen at Montana, I really do hope he rethinks his offensive playbook and hopefully adds more complexity to it (oh yeah and maybe just maybe other formations besides shotgun or pistol!).
