Was a little disappointing to see Thayne Jackson struggle this spring. I know, RS-F.. but he had a rough spring.

He had rough fall camp too. Star numbers don't mean squat to guys lining up across from him, especially ones from Montana they let him know too

b/w,,i have always been a fan of your knowledge, summaries and insight....and I agree with majority of your assessment yesterday with one glaring difference....the qb.....only going by the scrimmages, how you do not have hill as qb 1 is a mystery,,,,you may be privy to more inside information, but stitt kept saying he wanted to know which qb responded best when the "bullets" fly in a game atmosphere, thus the whole set up yesterday.....you gave kudos to all the young 2'S AND 3's it seemed until it came time for the cb's facing hill....even throwing against air, phillips and Jensen would have been hard pressed to do as well as hill did,,,,he has as good or better arm, very accurate, touch when needed, command of the offense (where to go with the ball) and can actually run with the football...imo it is hill that is the clear leader in the qb battle....he will only get better as he learns the offense.....imo.... and no, i don't know anyone, just my observations at scrimmages and my opinion.

ON THE MONEY, KRAMER :!:

Hill has been a complete stud the past two scrimmages... consistently finding the open receiver and putting it on the money time after time. And he has pulled it down and hurt the defense running like a gazelle as well... a true 2-way threat. I like his size and athleticism. He has come on strong since arriving, and had everyone in the stands in my section in Butte stating he looked the best and would be shocked if he wasn't the #1 come opening day.

I am not sold on our defense being solid either. I think they look good against' our Offense because our Offense is predictable. I am saving defense opinion until after the 3rd game...

After we play two of the worst teams in FCS and one the best teams in FBS?

That's an odd sample size, but whatever. :lol:

The forth game is EWU... thats when we truly find out.

If the D doesn't have together by then, well???

I mean... honestly we probably won't know how this defense is for sure until after that game.

Valpo and Savannah St they should handle. Could have numbers like we saw against Sac St and MVSU last season, which were great but obviously didn't tell us much.

Washington will put it to us, I'm just going to assume.

The EWU game will be the true measure of where this defense is I'd say.

Maybe there's more to the story than him just struggling on the field, or a reason why that would give pause to calling him a disappointment. It helps to know the full picture before just calling him a disappointment 5700.

I think a combination of the need for guys to contribute at DE and the rise of Jace Lewis.

I think it may have occurred at the start of spring ball, but don't know for sure.

Do you think Shane Moody will get any playing time this year? Yesterday's action is all I've seen so very little to go on. He played with a big heart and some quickness. They rode him like a horse in the second half .... and yes he is small.

I think his move to DE has more to do with the fact that he's a good football player we'd like to get on the field sooner then later but we're loaded at linebacker. His frame makes for a nice transition to DE, whereas Lewis and a few of the others are linebackers and not going anywhere.

I think his move to DE has more to do with the fact that he's a good football player we'd like to get on the field sooner then later but we're loaded at linebacker. His frame makes for a nice transition to DE, whereas Lewis and a few of the others are linebackers and not going anywhere.

Does anybody else get the feeling on the offense that the parts are sort of interchangeable? That may be good or it may be bad but the production doesn't seem to vary much with who is playing. Running backs, X, Y, H positions, offensive lineman. I'm not sure it really matters who the #1 QB is. Maybe, as others have suggested, it is the offensive scheme, and whether it works or not is not really wholly dependent on who plays.
Are there any all-conference offensive players other than maybe JLM in the entire group? It is just that there really doesn't appear to be an stars in this group. I'm not sure that any of the running backs would even suit up for NDSU. Just an observation of which I'm not locked into so no need to take offense. For full transparency I have not, as of yet, bought into the offensive scheme.

Not sure that is relevant. I think fishy is probably correct based on the present.

Also, he is still only a freshman.

If you really expect a kid to come in and be a dominant presence on the OL as a freshman, you are going to be disappointed almost every single time...

I agree Brint, EW will show us how we measure up in the Big Sky, What I am saying is, The D better get it altogether before this EW game so we can give them an ass whooping....

combine all this with le texeier (spelling) coming on like a freight train before he got hurt, we have some very good young linebackers for the future....
