Things to do in Portland

Hi all,

Setting football competition aside if you're planning on coming to Portland days in advance one of your members started a thread in our forum asking about things to do in Portland. Check it out and perhaps plan your trip out. Forecast says it will rain from Wednesday on out through game day, but hope you have an enjoyable experience in Portland!

Also... Viks will be hosting a sock & underwear drive for New Avenues for Youth, a non-profit organization assisting homeless and at-risk youth. Anything you can provide will be truly appreciated!

Here is the link to the thread: http://www.bigskyfans.com/vikings/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3956

Will be a great game this weekend. May the best team win! :thumb:

Saturday morning market under the Burnside Bridge is always fun...Ne'er-do-well grizzers familiar with sleeping it off under the Russell Street bridge will find it a great upgrade.

Rent a unicycle and check out the artisanal lightbulb stores. No gluten.
Great gotta do things CDA!

Don't forget to stop by the Women & Women First bookstore and say hello to Candice & Toni. Quirky. Catch a game of professional hide n seek at the city library, it's near the Artisan Knot store (not sure if they're still open though).

The Mousetrap Tavern is about 10 minutes north of the PSU campus.

Mousetrap Tavern
2305 N Lombard
Portland, OR 97217
503-285-9995

The owner is from Montana!

Closer to the stadium, the Marathon is good for strong drink and laughs. Good news is that PSU has beer in their stadium.

I like Rock Bottom. Good beer/food/atmosphere.

Please do yourself a favor and check out someplace else while you're in our lovely city. Rock Bottom is ok, but there are plenty of other local places with better beer, better food and better atmosphere. If you have the time, check out places like Pine State Biscuits, Lardo, Bit House Saloon, Henry's 12th Ave Tavern. My #1 spot in town for drinks and great food is Tilt, only about 15 minute walk to the stadium.

Stay away from Voodoo donuts, you'll spend 90 minutes in line for an overpriced, decent donut. Check out Blue Star, Coco and Pips for better donuts.

I'm from Montana, and I love my beer. Our local breweries are fantastic including Base Camp, Breakside, Brideport, Burnside, Upright and HUB. Rogue is usually the one that outsiders love to check out when they visit Portland, but it's not worth the money or the shitty food in my opinion.

I'm excited to see an influx of maroon around this place, see you all Saturday. Go Griz!

Agree with Henry's Tavern & Tilt. Had Tilt for the first time a few weeks ago, awesome place. Skip the line and order at the bar on the right side.

Hell yes. PDX has some tremendous breweries. Avoid Rock Bottom (which is a chain), and Rogue (which is neither micro nor cool). Bridgeport is one of the early microbreweries that hasn't sold out, and they have great pizza (or at least they did last time I was there). Do a brewery crawl if you can.

And yes, avoid Voodoo. Although if you go at 2:00 am there will be a number of extremely drunk hotties in line, so the time passes quickly.

Bring change for the street people.

Pork belly sandwich at Lardo is a rare find. I always go for Voodoo Doughnut I I because the original is so crowded. Worth the trip.

If you like the hard stuff, check out the distilleries on the inner east side: http://www.distilleryrowpdx.com/

Don't forget Cascade Brewing if you like Sour Beers. For pizza if no line hit up Apizza Scholls or Life of Pie Pizza. Or go to Ken’s Artisan Pizza. Another interesting place is Little Big Burger.
