Theoretical question

4:30 - snap
4:31 - 46 begins drop back into QB spy, 7 drops back to pass from the pistol
4:32 - 46 drops 1 yd beyond LOS then takes 4 steps toward the LOS including a stutter step, 7 takes 4 steps toward the LOS and appears to be going for another run
4:33 - 46 takes 2 steps toward 7 and initiates contact as 7 starts passing motion, 40 & 93 (DL) reaching to grab 7 and simultaneously initiating contact
4:34 - 7 falling backwards and towards the ground with 40 wrapped on his legs. 46 ricochets off of 7 in opposite direction and stays on his feet

This was a bang bang play. To go into even more detail I'd need something that shows tenths of a second but that plays even more into the fact that this was a bang bang play. If this was some kind of a premeditated hit, 46 would have followed through on the hit and driven/landed his entire body on top of 7 into the ground. The narrative that the hit was a premeditated move is absurd, even for the nonsense spewed on this board. I know this is asking a lot, but do better.

Perhaps you could just be honest. No. 7 was already being tackled by 2 SS players when 46 came in high and went helmet to helmet. Completely unnecessary. Dirty play. 7's front foot was 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball. SS defenders were hitting him hi and low. 46 was still 2 yards away from 7. 46 just put his head down and put his helmet into 7's helmet. No reason for that. Again, dirty and dangerous play. I played college football, on defense. I know how tackles work. I don't know what you mean by a bang bang play, but it wasn't some quick decision play. Your guy intentional went at 7's head. The ball was long gone. A premeditated hit doesn't have to be a follow through tackle. It can be just what happened. A qb has thrown the ball and is hung up by two defenders, and your dirty players intentionally hits no. 7 helmet to helmet. I wish no. 46 nothing but bad luck.

This comment of yours is BS. No. 7 had already thrown the ball. In fact, the ball is almost to the receiver. "initiates contact as 7 starts passing motion," And, 40 and 43 had already hit/grabbed 7 before 46 finished him off up high. 46 didn't ricochet in any respect.
Sing Sing Prison football in the 30’s didn’t even allow this type of play. In my opinion, 46 planned to take our qb out of the game. He got the job done.

I would say that defenders are coached how not to hit someone especially the QB. Number 46 hit the QB in a way everyone knows you are not supposed the tackle or hit the QB. Or any other ball carrier.

The targeting rule should include no play for offender until the targeted player is able to take the field again.

OR...if you target the opposing teams QB and take him out for the rest of the game with a bullshit cheapshot like that, your starting QB should have to sit out the rest of the game. i say this partially in jest, but that seems more fair then us losing our most important offensive player and them losing a defensive lineman. yes, i know he was a really good d-lineman, but as valuable to the success of the team as the starting QB? i don't think it was pre-meditated, but it was certainly carried out with the intent to injure. it was late, it was helmet to helmet and it was their best defense against UM's ability to move the ball against them. very effective.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Montana and I have met several good men…but obviously none of them post on this site…or at least this thread because many/most of you sound like little girls who have never played football at any level. It was not premeditated. It was not coached. It was targeting. There was a penalty assessed and an ejection. All of your whining is just more weak-ass excuses for losing a football game. If your qube was tougher he could have continued to play. Players get hit like that all the time and continue to play. I hope your qube is back and ready to go this week. BUT you are most likely going to lose again vs Weber AND again when you play Montana State. Do any of you think you’re going to make the playoffs with four losses in conference play? This thread and all of your fantasies are an embarrassment to your program.

I see thugs mom has found her way here..

That was a reckless play. Very reckless. As much as we try to legislate those types of plays out of the game, football players are going to football. They aren't going to use good judgement. Some players are never going to get the message, see the Cincinnati Bengals from a few years ago. All you can do is suspend for plays like that, beyond the minimum. I think it is well within the power of conferences to suspend players, but it doesn't happen all that often. Does he deserve an extended suspension? Hard to say, but in terms of the impact of his targeting penalty was much stiffer for us than it was for Sac State.

I sort of like the ejection policy soccer has with red cards. You get booted for the remainder of the game and for at least an additional one. A lot of high school federations have similar rules for ejections for violent conduct in other sports, and I think if you want to legislate most of those types of dangerous plays you do have a bit stiffer punishment.

Watched a coach send a player at Taysom HIll on a kick off (Hill was a kicker too for highland HS in Pocatello). Coach sanctioned, he was suspended as a result but hardly apologetic, and those types of guys used to be all over football. There isn't room for that type of stuff in football, because the potential for catastrophic injury is so high. That to me was the epitome of dirty and to the extent people will go to win. The suggestion that Taylor condones that is a bit much for me, because it doesn't rise to the level of the bounty stuff the Saints got caught doing.

the only thing of value in your post is that i agree that it was not premeditated. but the statement about the toughness of our "qube" may be the dumbest thing to ever grace the internet. so if a couple of our o-lineman chop block your best defender, tear his ACL, it's ok because "he should have had a tougher ACL."

You are an idiot. The dirtiest hit I've ever seen in college football, and I played college football. Did you? Players don't get hit in the head like this, and continue playing. QB's don't ever get hit in the head after a pass and while standing up, and hung up with 2 other defenders on them. They go into concussion protocol and they have to sit. Do you think Johnson looked good lying on the ground, like everything was okay? With Johnson, UM would have crushed SS. Without your passing qb, or without your running back, UM would have crushed SS. If UM gets another shot at SS with Johnson as our qb, UM will run SS out of the stadium.

I don’t understand how UM is going to get another shot at SAC this year…do you really think you will be in the playoffs? You’ve had three shots in the last three years…how’d that work out for you? 😜

Yes.

Better than any playoff appearance your joke of a program has participated in, that's for sure.

Seriously, your facilities and fan base are a laughing stock. And your playoff appearances have been a fucking embarrassment to this conference, who is more than adequate at embarrassing themselves.

I hand no idea why you’re giving me any attention…shouldn’t you guys be busy putting together your list of excuses for your impending loss to Weber?

You are right, "you have no idea" although your "hand" might. The Griz ain't dead, SS is in our sights.

You are the dumbest poster to ever grace this board. And we've had 2506.
