The ZOO Returns

The Zoo won't trulty be back until the students return to the side of the court. It might take 3 years but give the students the court and hand out T-Shirts that say "Return Of The Zoo" on the front and "Party like it's 1975" on the back (Griz only Sweet 16 appearance). Where they put the student section DOES matter for attendance no matter what survey was conducted.

i understand what ur saying....but that fact of the matter is the place was onfire lastnight, and for the cats game...with the students under the bucket...if people would come and give half the effort they do at football games the place would be a great enviorment all year....im not talking about the "original ZOO" im just sayin if people come out like we have the past few games, we would give our players a solid hhome court advantage every game every year...if you care enough to come to the cats game and the weber game, you should be able to come to the rest of the games...its cheap, its a blast and its quality basketball...have some pride and we will can have a great basketball enviorment. Wanting the students courtside is valid, but its not an excuse.

Sorry but it's all about the money folks. Take it from a guy who watched Derrick Pope and Michael Ray, it's not the product on the court, it's all about where the students are. We would wait for hours to get into a game and get a good spot because it was fun to be idiots right on the edge of the floor. The U doesn't make money from those guys, thus they get crap for seats.

i understand we all think the students should be courtside......but was the atmosphere not awesome lastnight? was the adams center not electric? it has been proven that it CAN be a great atmosphere nomatter where U I or the students sit...it IS posiable....and i dont have season tickets either, but i never miss a game

Total ticket sales for 2011 for men's basketball was $444,766 and for women's was $300,489 . Seems to me if you could negotiate with the student's to raise the athletic fee $5 a semester the $120,000 ($5 * 2 semesters * 12,000 students) increase would more then cover the lost revenue from the season ticket holders that you had to move in that section. And besides isn't the first two rows for the press anyways. Boot their butts somewhere else.

I would love to see the students court-side, and I think that's where they belong. But I honestly think it has less to do with money and more to do with the fact that students are essentially gone or MIA 6 weeks of the BB season if you include finals week. That's a lotta empty seats for a lotta games.

And there are many roudy facilities where the students are on the end-lines. It is what it is. Make the most of it, show up and get loud.

Maybe the best thing to do is to re-align the court to its' original east-west layout - then you don't have to move the students, and presto, they have sideline seats again.

The hoop blocks a lot of action and it's difficult to stay rowdy the whole time when you only get the opposing team coming your way once a half. I understand the administration might be concerned that if they give some of the middle section to students it will look quite silly when some don't show up over winter break or if the team is struggling, but places like Cameron and Allen Fieldhouse are loud because the students are literally on top of the other teams. I grew up in Helena and the student section at Carroll b ball games was courtside and much rowdier than I've ever seen the average Griz section.

Giving the students a chunk of the courtside area, altho would result in displacing some season ticket holders and losing some season ticket revenue, as wel as irk some season ticket holders who are also donors. I can see the arguments both ways.

If the ZOO returned in force every game, the rest of the arena would be full too, due to the increased excitement level. So, the program would actually make MORE REVENUE if the ZOO was given the court-side seats.

As great as the crowd was last night, it could have been better! Tinkle had to urge the crowd on, at several key moments, to get off their asses and make some noise. And people responded pretty well, but they didn't really sustain it.

It's like people have forgotten how to act at basketball games, like they no longer remember how to help the team. Maybe they just need more alcohol, I don't know.

Nah, they just need the students back at courtside, to show 'em how it's done.

McCarthy was good. My buddy bought him a pizza and hand delivered it court side to McCarthy, the Zoo went wild all night with that. McCarthy took it all in stride and had some compliments for us post game. :lol:

The area where I sit is critical to the team's success because it contains the people who help straigten out the refs when they're making bad calls. Note how we were able to straighten out the ref with lighter hair last night. He made some nice calls in our favor in the second half, but we had to work on him earlier in the game. We got some help from a young girl who talked to this ref during a timeout too.

As a former official, I can assure that they were laughing at your comments, and thought that you were a typical homer blow-hard. Officials pay ZERO attention to idiots in the stands like you.

I attended many a game in 74 and 75 and remember all too well how a good crowd can make for a great game. Last night it sure looked like a good crowd and I hope it continues for years to come. Go Griz.

The Zoo were the ones that were always trying to get the rest of the crowd into it. Alot of times back in the day most of the crowd was just as comatose as they are now, they just needed the Zoo to get them off their asses. It's like Tinkle has had to take on the role of coach and Zoomeister.

The crowd seemed very subdued until Tinkle got them going...at least that is how it sounded and looked on Big Sky Tv..granted that is hardly the best.
