The value of a EWU education

Say what you will about EWU but today I was asking "where is an EWU graduate when you need one?" (Truth is I am not sure I have ever met an EWU graduate. I mean I have never stopped at the fillin' station in Edwall or Steptoe. No offense to the fine folks of those burgs. You're still on my bucket list!) Anyway, the engine on my pressure washer wouldn't start no matter what I did. Lacking another choice I searched on-line for help and came across EEEWUUUtube and took the graduate course in carburetor rebuilding. Knocked it out in 3 minutes and got it running! Still, I feel bad taking money away from someone who invested what was probably the eight best years of their life. Nevertheless I appreciate the fine education I received and my diesel truck has been acting up. I might just go back online for an EWU double-major!

I swear this is true: I have a carb issue on my Honda pressure washer and would really appreciate the link. I'm about to take it in this week, and would love to avoid it.

I met one a couple of years ago in the oilfield. He was driving truck, but before you laugh - I bet he was making 6 figures, or close to it doing so.

He isnt making that now.

I bet he is....assuming he still is working. As the oilfield as started to come back, there is now a shortage of qualified talent. I currently am making 30% more than I did 3 years ago before the slow down - best money I've ever made, and I have offers from 3 other companies.

But I understand what you are saying....service companies have had to cut rates, but those are also slowly coming back up. What you seeing are experienced hands now combined with worms in many phases, so they can pay top dollar to one, and minimal to the new ones. My company currently starts new hires at about 25% less than they did - that is how it evens out.
