The third Grizzly Basketball recruit is........

It does seem like a rather odd way to handle the end of the signing period. For a program that is trying to increase fan support you would think they would want to blow a trumpet and bang the drum about their new recruits. Unless perhaps something has happened to change things.

As far as basketball goes, they're not the best at drumming up support.

They shouldn't do any griping about support then. My experience goes back to the '70's packed houses and white noise period. I find it sad that they don't or can't do a better job. It appears that they are fumbling a prime opportunity to get people excited about the team.

Why have we not seen anything official yet on this Phillips kid? Are you SURE he's coming to UM?

We have not seen anything Official from the University of Montana on ANY of the three spring signings There are multiple reports about these signies on assorted Internet sites, including Jucojunction.com, Rivals.com and the recruits junior college sites. Nothing though UM.

Again I am beginning to think the Griz coaches are going after a 4th recruit.

When they remodeled and took the students out of where they were most effective, they changed the whole dynamics. I used to hear that it was such a hard place to play because the students were right on top of you. My experience goes back to the late 80's and early 90's with Fastings, Engellent, Tinkle etc. PUT THE STUDENTS BACK WHERE THEY BELONG.

I've made attempts to try and give the marketing team ideas but have gotten "you can't put the wagon before the horse" in the sense that they need a fan base before they can do things like new t-shirts. I'm having trouble figuring this out seeing as a marketer is supposed to stir up support, not wait for it.

I think you will all agree that I'm not a genius. That being said, it doesn't take a lot of brains to figure that it is good for business to make a big deal out of each and every recruit. It's good for the recruits, it's good for the team, and it's good for the fans to be excited for next year. Therefore it is good for the school and could potentially bring in additonal $ from happy, excited alumni.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but it looks like not too much is shaking at the moment.

The Jayhawk Conference is a premier JC conference. I think Roy Booker was from the same school. Phillips was first team all-conference and "newcomer of the year". He also had one of the best 3 point shooting percentages in the nation. I wonder if he may not be a redshirt possibility. Also, I hope to see Qvale and/or Selvig redshirt. Phillips was listed as 6' in high school so the 5'10" may be legit.

Best player we got out of that league would have to be Kevin Kearney.

CORRECT!
the beginning of the end was moving the UNIVERSITY STUDENTS from courtside of a UNIVERSITY SPORTING EVENT.
